Publisher's Summary
On Christmas morning, Solitude, Oregon, unwraps murder....
This wasn't how Police Chief Zane Duncan expected to spend his first Christmas with fellow officer and girlfriend Stevie Taylor. But when a local motel calls in the discovery of a dead body, the couple's holiday takes a grim turn. This is the second murder in Solitude within the week, despite the fact that their primary suspect is already in custody. Together, Zane and Stevie must face a disturbing truth - their small town may be harboring two killers.
As their investigation digs deep into the backgrounds of newcomers and longtime residents alike, Zane and Stevie also struggle to adjust to life under the same roof. Even if the stress of homicides and cohabitation don't bring an end to the couple, the murderer lying in wait just might.

Excelllent cop novella; great narration
This novella is the second in the Rogue Winter series by Kendra Elliot. The setting is in rural Oregon like most of Ms. Elliot's novels. It is a worthwhile listen with outstanding narration by Kate Rudd.

Fun addition to the Taylor clan stories
I really like Taylor family stories, and I think Zane and Stevie are my favorite couple. This is well-written and a fun addition to the series.
Be reminded that this is a novela and not a full traditional novel. I prefer full novels, but I like Melinda Leigh"s work so much, I will buy anything she writes.

Quick murder mystery
Another good story in this series. Is a serial killer hiding in Solitude and does he have his sight on Stevie Taylor? This one picks up where book 1 leaves off and continues to be fast paced, full of action and enjoyable.

Straightforward murder mystery with a side of illegal drugs
This is a good, fast-listen book that helped me pass some pandemic time. I always enjoy narrator Kate Rudd’s voice-acting, because she’s one of my audiobook favorites. As usual, Kate Rudd is superb.
As a crime fiction fan, the whodunnit was uncomplicated, but I liked this light book set during Christmas and New Year’s Day. Even though it’s late July, it was nice to read about happy holiday festivities, and with the worsening pandemic and mercenaries in Portland, I needed a fun, easy read.

An excellent read/listen
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Though each book was only 3 hours long they easily flowed into the next book. The characters were interesting and the narrator did a good job so that you were able to keep track of which person was speaking.
I appreciated the author’s ability to give a hint of the physical love between different characters without making it a pornographic description that other authors seem to feel the need to do in writing in this genre.

Poorly written
Terrible, trite and sentimental. Cliched characters and writing. Not sure why I finished it. Not recommended.
