Achim Priester wurde am 19. Juni 1959 in Bonn als Sohn eines Astrophysikers und einer Mathematikerin geboren. Er hat das Down-Syndrom. Sein großer Lebensinhalt war das Schreiben. Inspiriert wurde er u.a. von James Krüss und Otfried Preußler. Zu beiden pflegte er über viele Jahre hinweg eine Brieffreundschaft. 2016 wurden im Nachlass seiner Eltern viele Gedichte, Märchen, Geschichten und Notizen von ihm gefunden. Das Hörbuch Das goldene Birkenzweiglein - Märchen und Wintergeschichten beinhaltet einige seiner beeindruckendsten Werke.
