About this listen

Dante is Chapter Master of one of the noblest but most troubled Chapters of Space Marines in the Imperium: the Blood Angels. From the time of his birth in the rad-scarred wastes of Baal Secundus, he was destined for glory and strife.

From his apotheosis to Scout, to the hive cities of Armageddon and the alien menace of the Cryptus system, Dante has waged war against all the enemies of the Imperium. He has witnessed the divine, and struggled against the darkness within all sons of Sanguinius. Longer lived than any other Chapter Master, this is his chronicle, his great and storied legend.

Really good, well written and very well read.

One of the best audio books from the Warhammer Universe that I've listened to. The way the narrator reads this novel was brilliant. The character building that was done in this book was excellent. Didn't want to stop listening.

epic!!!

Couldn't get enough of this one! Really loved hearing about Dantes journey to become a space marine and I'm not much of a blood angels fan.

fantastic

One of the easiest audio books to listen to. the combo of present day Dante and kid Dante was a great way to tell the story.

Great book

Captures the essence of 40k and this character very entertaining and interesting novel even if it is clearly trying to get you to buy the overpriced model.

An amazing story, but come on Gareth

Gareth Armstrong is an ok narrator, he’s not completely terrible but bearable, I’d recommend that you listen to his audiobooks in succession otherwise you’ll realise how much better others are.

He just lacks emotion, during scenes that would otherwise be full of passion there’s a dull feeling.

Other than the narrator it’s a fantastic story, one where you actually get glimpses into the black rage, you get to put yourself in Sanguinius’ place abroad the vengeful spirit, for a brief second you’re there.

Excellent background on blood angles

Dante is truly a hero of the imperium this book shows him and the true terror of the black rage and red thirst

Humanizing and Daunting

This book aims to uncover more of the life of the great Chapter Master Dante and it does that in spades. Not only does it give us a glimpse of humble and frankly daunting beginnings but humanizes the space marines like no other book I've listened to or read. If you draw inspiration from such books then look no further.

The performance was remarkable and fully captured the gravitas and robust tones I have always imagined Dante to speak with. I look forward to where this story may lead in the Devastation of Baal.

5 stars, I cannot recommend this book enough.
