Publisher's Summary
From award-winning author Jane Casey comes a powerful Maeve Kerrigan crime thriller which will keep you on the edge of your seat!
How can you spot a murderer?
Leo Stone is a ruthless killer or the victim of a miscarriage of justice. A year ago, he was convicted of the murder of two women and sentenced to life in prison. But now he's free, and according to him, he's innocent. DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent are determined to put Stone back behind bars where he belongs, but the more Maeve finds out, the less convinced she is of his guilt.
Then another woman disappears in similar circumstances. Is there a copycat killer, or have they been wrong about Stone from the start?

More please
Love the characters of Maeve and Josh their interaction, support and Josh’s protectiveness of Maeve. Josh’s walls are coming down slowly as the series goes on. Looking forward to their next adventure together.
What I did not enjoy in this novel was them working with others more than being together At times as I have always really enjoyed their banter and sometimes comically lines from Josh. Maeve brings out the best in him.

Hardly gripping ... a little disappointing
Shame! Was looking forward to this book but can honestly say after 12+ hrs of listening, I cannot recall much detail. Was predictable, boring and completely forgettable. Narration was fine, it was the content that let it down

Where is Sarah Coomes?
Where is Sarah Coomes? I’m sure Jane Casey has written another great addition to the series, but this replacement narrator on book 8, is not Maeve. What a disappointment. Caroline Lennon may be a great narrator for other series/books but not for this one.

Not as good as previous books..
I have read and enjoyed the previous Maeve Carrigan stories, but this one had a lot less twists and turns and very little personal life details which I have liked about previous books. I also felt this reader sounded much older than Maeve is supposed to be.

Unbelievable and even the narrator sounds bored
This series started off as a fairly authentic police procedural. Now it has drifted into fantastically coincidental story lines and lost any sense of reality. The characters have tuned into caricatures. Even the narrator sounds like she is having teeth pulled.

Another great book in the series
I didn’t like this one quite as much as the others in the series, but it is still a great listen/read. As always with Jane Casey. The characters are richly drawn and the story beautifully written. Caroline Lennon’s narration is, as always, faultless.

Yet another excellent Kerrigan/Derwent detective novel. Characters continue to develop, the police procedural details appear to be accurate and I didn't guess the murderer before he/she was revealed. Beautifully read as usual by Caroline Lennon. Hope it won't be too long before the next one
