Story
This is what happens when a writer, preacher, and lover of words encounters some of creation’s wisest theologians: horses. First, she argues with them. They are, after all, horses. What could they possibly know about life and God that theologians haven’t already written? But slowly, she engages their language and listens to their holy wisdom, attending to how they express their being, actions, and relationships. She allows horses to draw her out of the faith of intellect and into a deeper faith of emotion, body, and soul.

At the height of his show career, this beautiful Appaloosa's majestic stature, strength, and willingness to work made him the perfect partner. Then he came to Hope Reins - a ranch dedicated to helping hurting kids who had been abused, emotionally wounded, or unwanted.

Story
PBJ Decks Smokin Gun (Gunner) is an American Paint Horse, one of the many of Heather Lott Goodwin's herd, and a valuable show animal that won the World Championship Paint Horse title. When Hurricane Katrina passed over the Goodwin property, it took with it the fences, the cattle, and several horses. Heather and her family lived in their horse trailer for six weeks and considered themselves lucky to have safe, comfortable shelter. After the storm, they searched for the animals and recovered many of them. But three months passed before they located Gunner, a hundred miles away.

Publisher's Summary
Is the path ahead unclear? Does life feel uncertain and full of worry and anxiety? Country Soul is filled with Scripture, stories, takeaways, and encouragement that will get your faith moving. Like many of us, Cara Whitney and her husband, Dan (Larry the Cable Guy), have experienced mountaintops and valleys in life. The good news they discovered along the way is that we don't have to go it alone. God's word guides our steps, leading us through the ups and downs of our faith journey.
This book is filled with heartwarming stories—30 compelling journeys of faith about men and women from all walks of life who have turned heartaches into hope and setbacks into victory.
Most of the stories are drawn from ordinary everyday folks just like you:
- A Nebraska rancher who survived cancer and heart disease...and is now telling others how to break free from a far worse disease: sin
- A wounded warrior who found healing in Christ...not to mention a brand-new life!
- A coal miner's daughter who met Jesus in a West Virginia holler...and is committed to following him to the ends of the earth
Refresh your soul as you rediscover that no matter how hard life gets, you can trust God.
