About this listen
A single-dad sports romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry.
Football star. Single dad. And once, a long time ago, mine.
I’ve spent the better part of a decade forgetting Ford Ellis. If he had just stayed away from Montana, I might have erased the memory of his striking blue eyes and rugged smile forever. Avoiding him was easy when the only place I saw his face was on ESPN—and a remote control could fix that problem.
Except my boss just hired Ford as the new head coach for the Treasure State Wildcats. Not only will I be stuck watching him on the sidelines this season, but avoiding him will be impossible now that we’re working together.
Maybe I haven’t forgotten Ford. Maybe I still dream about what we might have been. Maybe he hasn’t forgotten me either.
Except those maybes won’t change the fact that we were never meant to be. Maybe he was mine once. But as of today, the only thing I’ll be calling Ford Ellis is Coach.

Coach was everything I thought it would be.
As a huge Devney Perry fan, I knew I’d love it either way so the excitement was real 🤣
✨
Ford is hired as the new head coach for the Treasure State Wildcats.
He's been away from Montana for almost a decade since he grew up there but left for his own football career but now he’s back.
Millie has been in Montana forever working up through the ranks of her career in the male dominated sports industry. When she finds out that Ford has been hired without her knowledge, she doesnt particularly know how she feels about it but knows that she is only going to call him Coach regardless of whether they were best friends growing up or not.
✨
I loved that both characters were mature and in their 30s and had their lives sorted out. I loved Joey being introduced to Millie and was a little heartbroken on Joey's behalf with everything happening with her mother. It made me furious 🥺 but Ford's fierce love for Joey was amazing 🥰
I only wished for more detail about the past between Ford and Milllie and how it all went to hell in a handbasket, I wanted more more more!
This was an audiobook listen for me and I have come to find out that I will listen to anything @narratedbyteddyhamilton narrates. Like legit have searched his audios on Amazon for more books to listen too. 🥰
@avaundercover was fantastic too!

A sweet story about an unfortunate circumstance which inevitably ended with a beautiful HEA, what more could a gal ask for.
Absolutely worth a read and a listen.

My only real nitpick is that the peak of the plot was a little anti-climactic. I felt like it was building up to something a little more dramatic or sinister than it actually did. In the end the external problems (as in the non-romance/relationship plot points) kind of just solve themselves. But if you're just here for the romance and don't care too much about having a solid subplot as well, it's really not much of an issue.
Come for the romance, stay for the romance

The book kinda starts off with the right person, wrong time trope, BUT DON'T WORRY! Everything works out alright in the end. My heart was just melting throughout the entirety of Coach. Ford and Millie had a lot of work through and the way Ford never stopped fighting for Millie was EVERYTHING. And can we just talk about how he always referred to her as "my Millie"?! Swoon!!!!
My favourite Devney audio

I loved every single minute of Coach and have ZERO complaints!
Other than one or two phrases that were read a little odd (definitely a ME thing), I really enjoyed listening to both narrators and would recommend Ava Erickson, Teddy Hamilton, and the book to anyone and everyone 👌🏻
