About this listen

A forbidden, small town, sports romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry.

A coach. A student. The rules were concrete. We broke them anyway.

The night I met Toren Greely was the night I learned how to lie. He was a Treasure State football coach. I was the star of the volleyball team. Coaches and students were forbidden. My future was on the line, so I told myself it was only one night.

That was the first lie. They got easier to tell after that. The lines blurred. The boundaries shifted. Our relationship became a game of its own.

A chaste smile. A knowing glance. A veiled touch or a hushed kiss. We hid in plain sight. We were invincible. Or so we thought. Neither of us saw the blitz coming until it was too late.

Game over. The night I left Toren Greely was the night I learned how to lose.

I loved Blitz. It's the same time line as book 1 Coach which is refreshing. I do recommend reading Coach first as you are introduced to Millie and Ford and the Treasurer Wildcats universe. Blitz follows volleyball star Jennsyn and football coach Toren. They meet at a party and hit it off. This is a forbidden relationship, but if mystery, great side characters in Torens cousin Faith and her kids and lots of sport. Great narration too. Highly recommend of you are in the mood for a sports romance.

Great story

i really enjoyed coach and had quite high hopes for Blitz but sadly this story just fell short. the narration was great, i love both narrators so that was very enjoyable! but the story itself just felt like it lacked purpose, Jennsyn and Toren had no real communication for most of this book and practically every free moment was spent hooking up - i feel like we had no real sense of who Jennsyn was, there was so much potential with her backstory and her relationship with her parents and the reasoning behind leaving from Stanford and we just never really got to see any of it come to fruition (and the parts that we did see were literally left until the last chapter so they weren’t very fulfilling for me). I really wanted to like this book but sadly it was a miss for me.

unfortunately, lacklustre.

The way I gasped when I heard "epilogue" 😅

This was a pretty chill listen—I personally would sell my soul for Coach—but the only thing that bugged me during this audiobook was the male narrator.

The performance wasn't horrible, but I feel like there were times he'd deepen his voice / rasp up his tone, and in those moments I just heard vocal cords 😆 literal strings being strummed like a guitar and I had to force myself to hear words lol

Other than that TINY detail, this was a good 3.5 to 4 stars ⭐

I definitely enjoyed their story and these characters . So much going in on with one night that changed everything for these two . They couldn’t fight their attraction their connection . They were meant for each other . So glad they fought for each other . Stayed strong . I especially enjoyed listening to Jason and Vanessa who did a brilliant job bringing this story to life . ✨🫶🏽✨🫶🏽✨🫶🏽✨

This story would have improved with some serious editing. The final 5 chapters were overwrought and made for tedious listening. The sample drew me in so I invested in the book. From there on it was a hard slog and creepy. Particularly the back story of the gal whose name I’ve already forgotten mirrored the situation she finds herself in at the new college. Really? 🤦‍♀️

Long and melodramatic.
