About this listen

Despite the fragility of their relationship, Catharine and Alex have found a happiness together they never expected to find. Alex's career is soaring with her hard-fought place on the US Women's National Team as she prepares for the World Cup over the summer. Catharine is flourishing in her newfound freedom, embracing her love with Alex, while still being forced to keep their romance a secret amidst her soon-to-be ex-husband's presidential campaign. But it's more than either woman hoped for. More than they ever imagined.

Until a secret is revealed that threatens it all. Their relationship. Alex's career. Catharine's business. Even their lives. When it all comes crashing down, both women must ask themselves—how can love survive?

Caught Sleeping is Book Two of a Three Book series.

If you are after a sweet, low angst, happily ever after romance, this is not it. But if you want to be thrown into the mess of life with all its sharp dangerous edges, and really feel something, this is the story for you. Finishing book #2, despite feeling a little battered and bruised, as well as apprehensive for what is to come, I can’t help but feel the warm embrace of hope. Bring on book #3!

Oh and I have to add, the queer jock in me was all for the amount of “football” (soccer) and the match detail provided in this book. The fade to black for a sporting match is almost (but not quite) as bad as between the sheets!

Raw, real and exhilarating!

This is the second book in the series, and while I’m still not impressed with the Australian character (she absolutely does not sound Australian, despite being a main focus!), I’m really enjoying the tension and connection between the primary characters. Their chemistry feels real, even though—spoiler alert—one of them does end up in another relationship at one point.

What keeps me hooked is the emotional pull and the slow-burn dynamic. It’s not the kind of book that dives into vivid intimate scenes or uses descriptive language to paint those moments. Instead, it keeps things at a gentle simmer—no explicit visuals or verbal heat—but the story still draws you in.

I’m already on to Book 3 because I’m completely engrossed, and I’m hoping for a genuinely happy ending (not that kind). Overall, a great continuation of the series, even with my gripe about the “Australian” accent.

Finished book 2 now I’m booked three that should say something

As an old soccer player I had no idea how much it would be part of this story and it just made it so much better . What a roller coaster of emotions this story gave … I can’t wait for book three … as an Aussie I did giggle at a few of the pronunciation of certain words and that accent but as always Abby Craden brought all the drama and connection to the surface … bravo !

Omg

loved it. the only thing that bothered me was the Australian slang and the Australian accent. Can confirm we don't sound anything like that. Americans have been misinformed.
Love the characters and the story, though.

not a basic lesbian love story. not cheezy at all.

As much as I Iove AC, her Australian accent is more South African with a mix of I don't know what. Struggling to get through it

Struggling with book 2
