Solid concepts, poor presentation

The book is full of great biblical concept, which are unfortunately presented in not the best fashion. While I enjoy listening to James Dobson, it was painful to hear him read what seemed to be pages of interview transcripts and page-long quotations from other writers. That's just not good writing!! Then, open endorsement of politicians in the middle of a parenting book was inappropriate.

Disappointed

I love James Dobson and his books Bringing Up Boys, but I found this book to be extreme in many ways. After reading most of it I found myself overwhelmed with the possible what ifs for my sweet little girl. He was also very hard on working moms and the role they play in their kids lives. I bought this book for insight and help in playing a Godly role in my daughters life, but did not find what I needed in this book.

Must read for parents!!!

I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and have read a plethora of parenting books. This book exceeds any book I’ve read by far. It is grounded in Christian beliefs which I believe is the most important aspect in raising children. Thanks Dr. Dobson for this amazing resource!

Amazing must read for anybody with girls!

Absolutely loved this book. so many things were addressed, even things I hadn't even thought of. Amazing to see the advice given was done so honestly and in a way that is easy to implement with any child. It's scary to think that some of this advice is even necessary but I am very glad to see I am not the only one seriously concerned about our girls in today's society. Very well written and lovingly straightforward. Great job!

Should be called: ‘Bringing up Girls in the 1950s’

Didn’t find it helpful. The author has a very conservative world view, if you think girls should ‘save themselves for their future husbands’ then this book may be of help to you. I was hoping for some practical advice, but found the book to be written for a world that is completely alien to
The one I live in.

Don't bother with it if you are not Christian.

This book if for Christian. The bible has some great lessons, but you don't need to believe in Jesus to understand them. You need to be a believer to implement this mans message. Shame, I took a few things from it.
