Gratiutious, trivialized sexual violence

I knew after this first book that this was glorified furry porn, with werewolves. That's not the problem, nor is that fact that there is no discernible plot and that the action, such as there is, is constantly being interrupted for people to have improbable encounters with each other. What really disgusted me was the pointless sexual violence, that makes up half the text. During this second novel, two of the werewolf factions young "females" are kidnapped and sexually assaulted and tortured in a lab.
--On an aside the pseudo science babble in this book is really infuriating, it's not just the normal, suspend your disbelief sci fi hocus pocus, this hokum fails to even be coherent with itself. It is as if someone used a medical textbook do madlibs and then threw the whole mess into a blender, the result is off putting to say the least---
The truly sickening thing for me was the romanticization of the assault. Raand waxes on about sheens of sweat and how they are having various fluids, extracted and all of this is such lurid, prurient detail that you begin to realize that she means this to be part of the erotica of the book. And it goes on...and on. I kept trying to fast forward through those bits, only to find Raand still involved with the same scene 20 minutes later. All of it is pointless, the the way, nothing happens in the lab that affects, any of the other characters, or to the larger story (I'm using the term "story" loosely). By the time Wolf-alpha character decides try and rescue her people, It turns out that all the kids needed to do to escape is go wolf, which the they do, just as the werewolf scooby club rolls up, and which they could have done from the beginning.
The first book, was kind of like Twilight internet fan-fiction, yes the writing is pretty bad, but there is at least a kind of brightness from the enthusiasm of the writers---although from the descriptions of the various encounters in this piece you begin to wonder if this was written by a team of high school boys none of whom have ever seen a woman's body in their lives. This second book is worse. From the people growing snouts at importune moments, starting activities in one room and then mysteriously being in another before they finish, spontaneously orgasming by smelling or nibbling on each other, it's just awkward. On the whole the scenes that are not directly vomit inducing are about as entertaining as reading 50 Shades to your grandmother's bridge club.
The sex here is so warped and I'm not just talking about the weird anatomy. No one has loving sex with each other, or even honest lust, they are just helplessly dragged along by their hormones into sex acts which define their whole relationships. People are constantly being irresistibly aroused by innocuous things. and going from there to lifelong commitments. Even among couples Raand sets up, she gives no reason they should be together, or even like each other. It's just always, victus this or kinins, that. It's tiresome. It's also sad. In my opinion, part of the sickness of our puritanical culture is that sex is treated like some diabolical force, sometimes to be gallantly denied, other times to be tearfully accepted. This series falls into that plan. The women in this product aren't choosing love or sex, they are just reacting helplessly to whatever or whoever flips their switch, and that's supposed to be sexy.

I feel bad for having purchased this book and put up with it and this series as long as I did.

Terribly written

I had to return this and book one. It was so terribly written. If you are bound. How do you disrobe after the fact? I was deeply disappointed with this series. Over use of adjectives. Every scene was written the same. I am a fan of shape shifter books. Just not poorly written ones.

WONDERFUL BOOK!!

If you could sum up Blood Hunt: Midnight Hunters, Book 2 in three words, what would they be?

The story line in this kept me on my toes and kept the play button down!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Hunt: Midnight Hunters, Book 2?

loved the touch of biology and science to explain new ideas of ware and vamp physiology.

What about Maxine Mitchell’s performance did you like?

Makes you feel every thing that each character experiences! LOVED IT!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

i have no idea but im sure you would need to show ID to be let in the door. lol

Any additional comments?

dont have your audio book on while you go thru the drive thru, because the sex scenes are so numerous you will get some... interesting looks

Not quite as good as the first

But still worth a credit. This installment went a mile a minute, non-stop. I plan to listen to the third book.

Maxine Mitchell is very good, in spite of the few mispronounced words that slipped through the net in this one. No one is perfect. The producer is supposed to catch those, right?

It's a story.

This series gives me mixed feelings. I finished the first book in a day, but spent months on this one. It's not a bad story, it's just hard to sink into sometimes. I like all of the elements, but they just don't piece together for me.

too much sex

There was too much weird animal/werewolf sex that took priority over the plot. I liked the last book more. Also why did Jodi and Becca never address Drake becoming a Ware and the Prima??? Last they knew she was a human.

I want her!

The first time I read this book, but when I saw it on audible I had to hear it. Listening to theses books are a zillion times more erotic. Thanks for the adventure, thanks for the mystery, and thanks to the reader who gave a voice to the characters. I’m off to book 3.
