Story
Deep in the steaming jungles of Paraguay, Aimee Weir is in trouble. The petrobiologist has found what she was looking for - a unique microorganism in a natural gas deposit - but it proves to be more destructive than anyone could have imagined. A contagion is striking down all in its wake. The camp is quarantined, but workers start to vanish in the night. Is it fear of contamination - or has something far more lethal come to the surface? Something that has been trapped beneath the miles of stone, waiting... for us.

Story
A thrilling new novella from best-selling author Greig Beck - starring the formidable Alex Hunter. When the coalition of Allied Forces established an international zone in Iraq, they meant to bring peace to the region. They were succeeding - until the moment something hulked into the zone and detonated a nuclear bomb. The last images from the area prior to the blast are not of drones or the trail of an ICBM. Instead they show a solitary figure carrying the enormous weapon to the soon-to-be ground zero on its back.

Story
A journey into the deepest, darkest jungles of the Venezuelan Amazon...and a primeval place and time that mankind was never meant to exist in. Ben Cartwright, former soldier, home to mourn the loss of his father, stumbles upon cryptic letters from the past between author Arthur Conan Doyle and his great-great-grandfather who vanished while exploring the Amazon jungle in 1908. Amazingly, these letters lead Ben to believe that his ancestor’s expedition was the basis for Doyle’s fantastical tale of a lost world inhabited by long-extinct creatures.

The explosive sequel to the Greig Beck blockbuster Fathomless. Cate Granger is chasing ghosts. Publisher's Summary
Alex Hunter, code named Arcadian, wakes up with no knowledge of who he is, in the care of a woman he doesn't recognize, in a country not his own. But there is a calling deep within him, to return home to Black Mountain. Formed a billion years ago, the Appalachian's Black Mountain hosts a terrible legend. Only one elder remains to guard its long-forgotten, deadly secret and there is a fear that there is evil lurking again. Some hikers have gone missing, and the rescue team sent to search for them has not returned.
Meanwhile, in nearby Asheville, Professor Matt Kearns is drawn into the mystery of an ancient artifact recovered from the mountainside, and an image too grotesque to be real. A survivor is then found half-alive, covered in blood - blood revealed to be not quite human. Alex must confront an age-old enemy of man and discover the truth about his past, and confront the horror that stalks the frozen mountain, and also the one haunting his very soul.

Best yet!
Would you consider the audio edition of Black Mountain to be better than the print version?
Comparing the audio to the print edition is akin to asking someone if they liked the movie or the book. It's all down to the performance, and the reader does a great job, so it's a great audio.
Have you listened to any of Sean Mangan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to other Greig Beck performances by Sean Mangan, and echoing my review title, this is the best yet.
Any additional comments?
I had read several reviews of this book that criticized the plot line where Alex is being pursued by several different agencies as detracting from the main story. I strongly disagree. One of the best parts for me was near the end of the book (I won't give out any spoilers, sorry) where Alex needs to act to save someone, and I found myself yelling "Save [that person], Alex, don't just stand there!!!" Luckily for me, I listen to the book in my car while driving to work so no one heard me making a fool of myself.
The main plot is great as well, would have liked more but then, I would have liked more of the whole book, too. If you have read any of the previous three and liked them, GET THIS BOOK! I can't wait for the next one.

I love THE HAMMER !!
What does Sean Mangan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Sean's voice is excellent in this Genre. He enunciates well, Emotes and brings an element of suspense at just the right moment. I've bought other audiobooks precisely Because Sean was reading !
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Any additional comments?
This is good! I didn't expect some of the turns and you didn't hold back for the faint of heart in the story line. If you're gonna' do sci-fi action adventure with a current venue, you certainly did it in my opinion. Sean is again, perfect for your stories.
Dear Listener...read the Series in order. I still need read 2, I will admit, and I will. Greig is a true talent.

A let-down after the other 3 Greig Beck books
What was most disappointing about Greig Beck’s story?
Not so interesting without his main character in his other books.
Would you be willing to try another one of Sean Mangan’s performances?
He mispronounces a lot of words.

Scary has never been so much fun!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely YES! I haven't listened scary thrillers before but this series has been thoroughly enjoyable.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
This book kept me on the edge of my seat due to the way the narrator builds up the tension. To have tension the story must be well written.
Which scene was your favorite?
my favourite scene was when Alex confronted the beasts in their cave at the end and the leader wouldn't fight Alex and blocked his kind away from humans. To me it showed the beasts had an understanding of the destructive nature of the humans, and Alex canme to that conclusion too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
when Alex and the beast saluted each other at the end and to a lesser extent when Adira realised she couldn't stay with Alex. Also when Alex found his Mums remains and felt grief for not being there for her.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend these books to adults who enjoy their reads a little make believe but with a touch of "could it be true??'"
