Herr Mai ist ein freundlicher Mann, der immer wieder spannende Abenteuer erlebt. Allerdings nicht in echt, denn Herr Mai ist nur eine Figur in einem Buch. Phil mag ihn trotzdem und würde ihn am liebsten einmal besuchen. Und genau das passiert eines Tages: Phil landet mitten im Buch. Dort stellt er fest, dass der sonst so heitere Herr Mai eigentlich sehr traurig ist. Er fühlt sich schrecklich allein und wünscht sich eine Frau. Da kann nur Konrad Griepentrog helfen, denn der hat schon Herrn Mai erfunden. Gemeinsam machen sich Phil und Herr Mai auf den Weg zum Schriftsteller...
