About this listen
Behind the Wheel Russian Level 1 covers beginning to intermediate level Russian, providing a strong, yet flexible foundation for speaking, understanding, and creatively expressing yourself in standard Russian. The program features an English speaking instructor to guide you through the lessons and a native Russian speaker to aid with your pronunciation.

“The audio-only lessons build upon one another, using a native speaker to help you learn useful words and actually construct sentences from the get-go.” —Minneapolis Star-Tribune

“Unlike other audio language programs, this series encourages students to create their own sentences, making it more fun and conversational than other more expensive programs.” —The Cleveland Plain Dealer

“Focuses on real-world conversation...Great value.” —Men's Health magazine

It's very straightforward and you will be constructing your own sentences in no time. I also learned Spanish mainly using this method (with books to supplement). The speakers are ALWAYS native and speak at just the right pace. (for example with lingo jump parallel audio they speak too slowly and almost sound retarded in some languages like Russian and Portuguese).
I find the author/host, Mark Frobose, pleasing to listen to, unlike several other audio programmes that I've tried. Compare this with Russian pod 101 innovative language learning where the author sounds depressed and it feels unnaturally fake, scripted & forced.
It's way better than either Pimsleur or Michel Thomas too! Better vocab than the former, more useful than the latter. I can't imagine listening to another program more than once... stick with this program and you will get some results. The best value for money out there IMHO.
I would like to see a more advanced or intermediate version to follow up with...
Excellent!
