Fall in love with this audio-first charmer from number-one New York Times best-selling author Susan Mallery!

When Nissa Lang’s house sitting job falls through, she’s left with no place to stay for the summer. While she’s figuring out what to do, her old family friend Desmond Stilling hears about her dilemma and invites her to stay on his palatial estate. Trouble is, Nissa’s always had a crush on Desmond, so she’ll have to keep her feelings under wraps....

Ever since Desmond was shipped off to boarding school as a child, Nissa’s tight-knit family was the closest thing he ever had to a real family of his own. Her brother invited him into their clan, and he’d never betray their trust by giving in to the hidden attraction he’s always harbored for Nissa.

But as the season heats up, the two get to know each other in a whole new way. Will their summer together be fleeing - or will it lead to the love of a lifetime?

Slow burn romance

Slow burn romance that focuses on revealing long-simmering feelings between Nissa and Desmond and then building their connection. Susan Mallery is a talented writer with a knack for writing engaging stories with characters you root for. I particularly enjoyed Nissa and Desmond being open with each other and discussing things throughout the book. So many romances henge on mistaken perceptions, misunderstandings and unsaid feelings-- it is refreshing to read about adults acting like adults and actually communicating with each other. The sexual tension in this story is mild; sex was no more than a paragraph or alluded to instead of described in detail. If you are a fan of "sweet romance" or romance with PG-13 sex scenes, this romance is for you.

Great story but

The female narrator was awful! Why use a great male narrator if you aren’t going to do the same for the female? I almost wish Jason Clarke had read the whole thing. I love his voice and at least i would have enjoyed it even more. I did enjoy The story though I wish it had been longer. It was wrapped up to quickly and Susan Mallory can do better. It also annoyed me how the female kept saying “ I told you not to marry your ex wife”. It felt it was a bit immature.

Great story, Male narrator was amazing

I wish the female narrator had not been in it at all. The male was amazing, and she was a robot. Anyway, the story was great. Really good story development. The characters were well thought out and grew. The romance was getting good, and then bam. The story just ended. Which surprised me. Susan Mallory normally does a much better job ending stories.

Good story, Good male narration, female narration mediocre

The story itself was a good story and the male narration was spot on. However; the female narration was choppy and almost sounded computerized at times. When she would use an expression in her voice it added pleasantly to the story. Either way the book is worth the listen.

PG Romance with simple plot between 2 old friends

A mild romance set in Seattle about a wealthy businessman and his best friend’s kind, pretty younger sister. They spend the summer sharing his house and dance around their feelings for each other while helping a sick friend. There is the usual uninspired, non-graphic, falling in bed eventually and the usual breakup before an abrupt Happy Ending & no epilogue.

Love story years in the making, a but unrealistic

**May contain some spoilers or details of the story** The part I found unrealistic for me was the fact that the male character kept calling himself heartless, unable to love and all around a bad guy when it came to relationships because there was no evidence in it through the whole story. No development on that part of his character. Yes he had a failed marriage but he ended it because he knew she didn't love him and only wanted his money. Other than that he was single because he worked a lot is all I could guess. Also, too good to be true parts just kept happening. Her needing a place to stay and him being welcoming was easy to believe but then he was just so dang accommodating to everything and everyone else the whole story. Again, not heartless or bad guy at all. In fact there was so much about how generous he was, how he wanted to help Nissa and her friend and make her truly happy. It was mostly the part where her friend needed a transplant and then he was letting her recover there, provide all the nursing care AND physical therapy AND remodeled her ENTIRE house. I mean come on. It was like, "Oh, you need a million bucks? Sure! It's just money and I have tons of it!" The only thing that may have helped with why he did the home remodel for her friend whom he only met maybe twice was he explained that he normally does charity work every year and donates a lot of money. That helped this make sense. It all just seemed to move too fast, everything was too perfect the whole time. I did really enjoy this listen though. I think more development would have helped a lot.

Difficult listen.

Story overall was ok. Jason Clarke is one of my favorite narrators but female narrator was very hard to listen to.
