no idea what these are about

I've been listening to these for a few months now and have no idea what any of them are really about or how they end.
Listening to a soothing voice and a story just interesting enough to stop me from becoming bored, relaxes my busy brain and helps me fall asleep in minutes.

I highly recommend them, and being an Aussie -- I LOVE CURTIS STONE!! (and his AUSTRALIAN -- not French -- accent!)

Not heard a complete story yet

I'm a terrible sleeper but I have been listening to these for several months, and I've yet to hear the end of any of them. I'm asleep long before they finished. The stories are just barely interesting enough that my mind follows along, shutting out the internal monologue of my day and they are full of relaxing soporific phrases and imagery... somewhere along the line I fall asleep every time.

Curtis Stone

Curtis Stone .. for goodness sake don't give up your day job ..

Have you heard of a book called a dictionary ?
Do you even know what help a dictionary can provide ?

You haven't even bothered to:
- look up the pronounciation of words .. particularly thr French ones ..
Asparagus au Gratin .. you read this as "Asparagus are grattarn" with the emphasis in the wrong place too !
Sauté .. as sortay
Seive .. as seev
Gratin .. as grutaan
Flan .. as both florn and flaarn
process .. as prőcess
Intersticese .. well you completely mangled that one as .. inter tis is .. took me 30 secs to comprehend that one
Aubergine fritte .. as orbagine fritz ...... and so many many more
.. Oh .. P L E A S E ! Show some respect .. do your homemork & prepare.
- rehearse by pre-reading .. you're not even familiar with some of the words and english phrases eg 'the while'
- have someone else comment upon your reading & give feedback before recording

Why do you drop consonants at the end of words ? particularly those ending in G and T .. eg whiting, clarifying, seasoning, cooking .. they have Gs at the end .. its not COOCKEEN .. WHITE-EEN - .. etc.

Punctuation is provided to enable the correct, meaningful reading of a sentence .. clearly you haven't discovered this .. too often your pauses cause the sentence to be meaningless.

All of these disturb the listener .. BADLY
I certainly didn't fall asleep .. I was made angry by the dissonance you created & having to stay alert to make sense of what you were saying .. poor Escoffier must be turning in his grave with embarassment.

It's a home run!

As an Aussie I did not know that much about baseball. Now I understand.

An Awakening

Amazing, I could not believe that pumpkin stew could be a meditation and assist in sleeping. Here it. Can and does.

10/10 I remember none of it

It fits the brief. I was able to fall asleep. It was probably interesting but not too interesting.

Not what I was expecting

The Audible blurb describes these as stories with no beginning, middle or end. I couldn’t understand this concept so downloaded them out of curiosity. In fact they are not stories so much as short lectures or chats, on topics ranging from the mundane (quilt-collecting, cooking and baseball) to the esoteric (philosophy and mathematics).

The blurb also says that these ‘stories’ are ‘narrated by the world’s most celebrated voices’, so I was expecting to hear from familiar actors, presenters or voice artists. This can be really helpful as a familiar voice is more soothing when you’re trying to get to sleep. However, so far the only reader familiar to me has been Tony Shalhoub. He does have a great voice and I was asleep before he got halfway through his talk on the history of maths!

So although these stories are not what I was expecting, I think most listeners will find something here to interest them and to help them sleep. And they’re free, so what have you got to lose?

Just as I'd hoped

Exactly the right mix, distracts the mind just enough to relax without getting caught up

The pumpkin stew is my absolute favourite! I wish their was a whole collection like pumpkin stew.. dedicated to cookery.. Talking you through recipes, the smells, the preparation, even the little splashes of sauce! Genuis

it works.

The idea is to drone you to sleep with boredom-
whilst maybe learning some small useless facts

A miracle

I downloaded these FREE stories in sherr desperation. Having suffered sleepless nights, desturbed sleep & not be abke to go to sleep, for years. Having tried every herbal tea, herbal remedy on the market, I was at my witts end.
Believing a good nights sleep was one of those illusive things one can only wish for, like winning the lottery or meeting God.
These stories work. I have been listening to 'Pumpkin Stew' for a week and have slept every night. I am asleep within ten minutes, have no idea if the stew gets cooked. I am amazed. I am happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times.
