About this listen

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In The Dragon Reborn, the third novel in Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al’Thor undertakes a journey to prove himself worthy of being the Champion of Light.

Winter has stopped the war - almost - yet men are dying, calling out for the Dragon. But where is he?

Rand al’Thor has been proclaimed the Dragon Reborn. Traveling to the great fortress known as the Stone of Tear, he plans to find the sword Callandor, which can only be wielded by the Champion of Light, and discover if he truly is destined to battle The Dark One. Following Rand, Moiraine and their friends battle Darkhounds on the hunt, hoping they reach the Heart of the Stone in time for the next great test awaiting the Dragon Reborn.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times best sellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

I'm rereading this series that I first read in my early 20s. 30 years on the books are a little tired but still good fun. Theyre very obviously written by an old white man - definitely a 50s view of social morès.
women are often portrayed as devious while men are sort of bumbling but well meaning - or strong and silent.
In terms of story and momentum though, its still a good read and I will be continuing with the series.
The male narrator is annoying to start with but after a while you dont notice his idiosyncratic delivery so much

Old school fantasy

Full of intricate complexities that leave me with with great respect for
The author’s mind.

Out of the three in the series this was the hardest one to get in to. There was a lot of building until the final two hours really. But this does continue the series and it is a worthwhile listen for anyone that has enjoyed the series so far.

This was a slow one..

I read the printed series as they came out many years ago, listening to the audio books opens a new layer to their enjoyment.

a different perspective on a great read

I have loved this book series since a teen and have welcomed getting reacquainted with the Series on the Audible platform.

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer do put good effort into enunciating the words and putting effort into capturing the characters as separate and unique people.

The only thing that takes me out of the story on occasion is the cadence of Kate’s voice. There is a formula to it and the repetition is grating after a while.

Still, I couldn’t have done a better job when considering the size of the job and she would’ve unconsciously found a way to get through it. It is just the repetitive lilting of the voice in exact same way that makes it seem a task to listen to.

For this reason, I’m giving 4 stars; great story and great effort to put it on the Audible App for fans.

Cadence of reader takes you out of story at times
