Publisher's Summary

The future lies within our minds.

Paralyzed in a workplace accident, Lox's life is looking bleak. He can't even use the cutting-edge hardware that would allow him to play in the full-immersion-games that have become so popular. This all changes when he hears from New Universal Frontiers, the company with the best game out there: World of Magic.

They offer him the ability to use their hardware despite his injuries, but at a cost...he can never leave the game.

Once in the game world, Lox quickly realizes that there is a lot more to this new realm than just a game. Given a class that everyone thinks is useless due its inherent dangers, Lox begins a long and painful series of trials, some of them explosive, almost all of them dangerous as he masters his magical abilities.

As Lox explores the depths of this world's magic system, he soon discovers there is a lot more going on here than anyone ever expected.

World of Magic is a LitRPG/GameLit series that features leveling, advanced magic systems, dungeon crawling, world exploration, and much more. It's perfect for fans of books like Emerilia, World Tree, and Ascend Online.

over explanatory

The performance in general was quite good, though the repeated reading of the certain menus within very short periods was quite a waste of time.

enjoyable

Great LitRPG
the last half of the book is filled with a lot of repeats of the same stats in short succession but that is the only a momentary bother

I was a bit worried before reading (mostly thanks to the audio sample) because I thought the MC would drag their feet due to their disposition and I am so glad that this isn't the case

The story was enjoyable and I can't wait to continue the adventure in the next book

great LitTPG

Really enjoyed this type of book. it's alittle different to what I normally listen to but was worth it. was really easy to follow due to being a gamer myself.

only thing that was alittle annoying was the repetitiveness of the stat's towards the end of the book. almost felt like they was trying to fill in the time.

apart from that I recommend giving this book a shot.

Cliche and hard to get into

If i had a bingo sheet of all the cliché's and tropes out there i'd probably win within the first few chapters. It's impressive the amount that was stuffed into this book and it really makes it hard to get into when the MC is pretty much a walking Mary Sue.

What do I mean by this? No spoilers but; Gets a incredibly rare class off the bat, gets a mythic skill off the bat, is praised by the tutorial NPC, finds a sentient dungeon whom somehow he can hear (though somehow previous people couldn't but is specifically said that they should have been able to?), gets a super powerful/rare/special companion, is special since he can cast magic very early on, gets perks, companion solves issues that otherwise could have created interesting interactions, finds a hidden legendary quest dungeon...

I stopped somewhere around that last one as I just couldn't sit through it anymore as i just couldn't immerse myself when the MC is stumbling into cliche after cliche. This reads more like a power fantasy with any conflict there to prove the MC strong or to try and shake things up but you know they'll always come out on top. I'd honestly give this a miss unless you're into power fantasies.
