Publisher's Summary

Survival of the fittest is easier said than done....

If waking up in a new world isn't bad enough, Hestia starts her new life as a small, newborn dragon in a hostile forest filled with vicious monsters. With status screens obscuring her vision, her first task is to escape two hungry kobolds wanting some grilled lizard for breakfast.

Equipped with fragmented memories from her past life and the gamelike mechanics of her new reality, Hestia must face trials, beasts, bosses, and more as she grows in size and power.

She is determined to find civilization. For nothing will stop her from fulfilling her one true desire: to become an idol.

Don't miss the adventure of a lifetime in this new LitRPG series about an underdog rising up to be the idol her new world didn't know it needed. Hestia may start small, but one day, her power will match her determination.

I had big hopes

I had big hopes going into this one, unfortunately it just wasn’t for me, I’m sure there’s a crowd for this one, but just wasn’t for me

Stats

I understand it’s a LitRPG but it felt like 60% of the book was stat reading, a bit too much for me honestly I think if it split the stat reading into their own chapters or something similar to the side stories so I could skip them it may have made it better.

a breath of fresh air

i didn't have high expectations but I found myself thoroughly entertained by this book. i thought it was light and fun, with a topical litrpg story and setting it doesn't try to be anything more than it has to be. my only criticism is that it shows the stat sheets way too often for an audio book, a hard copy it wouldn't matter but for a audiobook it means skipping through a lot of pointless repeated stat read outs that don't actually matter.

good story but...

- too much stats
- teenage girl POV
- MC singing is narrated plainly without any indication of how it might even sound close to being a song

Decent story, too many stats for audio.

tldr:
story is solid
stats are too often and too long
be aware of some cringy accents (they get better-ish) and heartmelting baby dragon noises

really looking forward to the next one!!

the story is rather enjoyable. there is a good amout of mystery and intreigue to the mc's bgs and situation. I am enjoying the path taken to revel these.

there are a LOT of stats pushed. way more than what is comfortable for an audio listener.
they are also right in the middle of battles alot which would be fine as a written book but really doesnt translate well to audio. it is jarring to go from intreaguing story stuff to a recital of the same stats you just heard. especially since they aren't abbreviated in any way.
it made me zone them out a bunch and i would have to rewind to get back to the end of the stat block when i finally zoned back in a and realised i missed a bunch of story.

the amout of stats overshadow the story a lot hopefully there will be a better balance later. or some way to better skip over the endless barely changed statblocks in the audio version.
I love seeing the progression in numerical form but i feel like the mc needs to interact with the stats if you are going to show them.

the proformance started off strong enough and verry enjoyable even.
**** (please note the next bit was written fresh off the first accent drop and I now dont feel as strongly but cant think of a softer way to deliver the message) ****
the narrator will benifit from accent training or even checking how forien (to them) words and honourifics sound in use.
(please PLEASE revisit your japanese accent and see if you can learn the difference between japanese and other asian language's cadence)
its good that they have tried to add voice variety with the characters accent, however it is currently at a cringy level that sounds more like making fun of the characters than embodying them. and this takes away from the rest of the proformance. its really hard to get through but it did get a lot better through the book.

beside that accent the rest of the proformance is really well done
the robotic system voice the acting the differencece between the mc's voices all great
i really liked the dragon and animal noises

To much repetitive stats

the story gets distracted by the constant reviewing of stats. it also gets side tracked by back stories that do nothinmg to addd to the overall story. Very disappointing.
