I had big hopes going into this one, unfortunately it just wasn’t for me, I’m sure there’s a crowd for this one, but just wasn’t for me

I enjoyed the story here, however the biggest fault of the audiobook is LARGE portions of it just repeating the status screen, it got long enough that going through it would take nearly 5* minutes, and at the start it was repeated at the end of every chapter along with during the chapter if an event happened.. this was farrrrrr to much especially for an audiobook.

I understand it’s a LitRPG but it felt like 60% of the book was stat reading, a bit too much for me honestly I think if it split the stat reading into their own chapters or something similar to the side stories so I could skip them it may have made it better.

I enjoy LitRPG audiobooks and enjoy hearing stat updates linked to the characters progression but in this case, its just FAR, FAR, FAR too often and for like 5 minutes at a time and possibly significantlyeven longer as the book progresses. Thankfully it tends to run till the end of the chapter so you can skip to the next.

I'm 7 hours in, in part as i fell asleep a few hours. The story is decent though i'm not a fan of the idol being the goal but thats my fault for paying attention to Dragon Reincarnation in the title, not the idol.

The narrator does a good job especially as it must have been tedious reading endless repetative stats.
To be honest, if i was giving advice to the writer, I would suggest rewriting the book without such a strong emphasis on the stats and just bring them up after major events.

i didn't have high expectations but I found myself thoroughly entertained by this book. i thought it was light and fun, with a topical litrpg story and setting it doesn't try to be anything more than it has to be. my only criticism is that it shows the stat sheets way too often for an audio book, a hard copy it wouldn't matter but for a audiobook it means skipping through a lot of pointless repeated stat read outs that don't actually matter.
