Good starting book

I am a female in my mid 20's who has been recently diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. This book is a good starting place to find out Asperger's and how people around me can help my condition. I did find the book to repeat its self alot and not really help in solving symptoms

Not worth a credit

The book was too brief and undetailed to be very helpful. More voluminous and quality rich material can be found by simply Googling.

In a relationship with an Aspie Man

While the book was informative, I felt like the adult version of an Aspie was described to be someone dumb or a child. They are very intelligent, as you have mentioned and very observant and connect the dot quickly. They just may not know what the emotional interpretation of your action means and may require you to spell it out. I read the book feeling like the man I'm with was a child or dumb and needed to be handheld. He is extremely intelligent and just needs me to be explicit with my desires, it doesn't mean he can't comprehend it, I just can't assume he understands my hints.

Not very informative... Very high level, absract

Very high level, abstract thoughts and concepts... Kept saying that everyone is diffrent and that asperegers can not be defined to any one symtpom. Granted that the syndrome is psychological and most psychologist are afraid to putting the stick inhe sand, due to being exposed to ability, but... certainly wish that the author could give back the hour plus of time I just wasted.

Not wortht the time

Needs significant updates

This book is focused squarely at helping non-autistic people deal with autistics and talks about us as though we are “those people” even though the author repeats many times that we can be quite intelligent and live productive lives. I would prefer to be treated like a whole person, but alsö the medical understanding of autism spectrum disorders has expanded significantly in recent years. On top of that, Hans Asperger was not a good person and the term “Asperger’s syndrome” is no longer in use since 2013.

Great overview of Asperger's.

I read this book because my six year old may have Asperger's and I wanted to know what that meant before going through the process of getting him tested. This was really helpful and insightful. Good overview and some good tips as well.

Probably good for people who like support groups

Very light on hard facts and concrete content - same info could be gleaned from an hour of internet research.
Probably perfect for the type of person who wants to go to a support group or write a feelings journal, which is definitely not me.

Good if you are looking for a brief overview

Does an adequate job of explaining Asperger's and does give some good basic tips. For the length of book I was hoping it would be a little more direct with the information provided and give more situational examples.

Vague

i was only able to find value on just a few statwments in this book. This book is too generalized with just a few specifics. I was hoping for a little more detail.
