Story
He appears out of nowhere in a sleepy little neighbourhood in suburban Kerala. He calls himself Shunya, the zero. Who is he? A lunatic? A dark magician? A fraud? Or an avadhuta, an enlightened soul? Saami, as they call him, settles into a small cottage in the backyard of the local toddy shop. Here he spins parables, blesses, curses, drinks endless glasses of black tea and lives in total freedom. On rare occasions, he plays soul-stirring melodies on his old bamboo-reed flute. Then, just as mysteriously as he arrived, Shunya vanishes, setting the path for a new avadhuta, a new era.

But, like the life of Swami Rama, this audiobook offers more than a sequence of astonishing events. As you read the stories of authentic guru-disciple relationships Swami Rama had both with his master and with his own students, you will see how the spiritual wisdom is transmitted through generations. A treasure
- By Amazon Customer on 21-12-2019
Publisher's Summary
The author Sri "M" is an extraordinary individual. His uniqueness lies not only in the fact that at the young age of 19 and a half, he travelled to snow-clad Himalayas from Kerala, and there he met and lived for several years with a "real-time" yogi, Babaji, but also that he should undertake such an unusual and adventurous exploration, given his non-Hindu birth and antecedents.
The metamorphosis of Mumtaz Ali Khan into Sri "M", a yogi with profound knowledge of the Upanishads and deep personal insights, born of first-hand experiences with higher levels of consciousness is indeed a fascinating story.
The bonus for those interested in the secrets of yoga, meditation, and sankhyan metaphysics is that Sri "M" is still living and easily reachable. He leads a normal life, married with two children, wears no special robes and conducts himself without pomp or paraphernalia.
Someone who met him recently said, "I expected a flashy godman and instead I saw a jean clad gentleman with a smile on his face, ready to discuss my problems. In five minutes flat, I said to myself, this is no ordinary man. The peace and tranquility that enters your system is tangible."

OMG! OM!!!!!
Just as inspiring and well presented as, Autobiography of a Yogi which is a classic in it’s own genre. Engaging spiritual experience so well-narrated! So thankful I discovered this quiet audiobook—inspiring & extraordinary! One of my best Audible decisions: entertaining and flowing like a spiritual river.....India as I never saw it while I lived six months in Goa and the West Bangal (Baharampur: home base) & Darjeeling. Love ❤️ this audiobook for it’s uplifting narration and without affectation! Lovely surprise—open your heart; open your soul at least for 10 hours!

I inhaled this book.
I could not quit listening to this book. It was truly amazing and I loved every second of it. I long to meet this author. For some of the seemingly strange portions of the book, I am thankful I was luckily prepped for, because my husband and I watch a lot of Gaia TV. So it wasn't too far-fetched for me. I hope he can come to the us one day. (My family is very concerned at thought of me going alone) In the meantime, I have got to read the rest of his written works.
