Story
The Superpox-99 virus has wiped out nearly the entire human race. Governments have collapsed. Cities have become graveyards filled with unspeakable horror. People have resorted to scavenging from the dead, or taking from the living. The entire industrialized world has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, decaying bodies, and feral animals. To stay alive, U.S. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines must forage for food, water, and gasoline while outgunning those who seek to take advantage of the apocalyptic anarchy. Together with his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, he aligns with survivors of the town of Boone in a life and death struggle against a gang of violent criminals. With each deadly encounter, Mason is force to accept his place as one of the nation's few remaining lawmen. In a world now populated by escaped convicts, paranoid mutants, and government hit squads, his only hope to save the townspeople is to enforce his own brand of frontier justice.

Publisher's Summary
Anarchy Rising is the second book in the post-apocalypse Survivalist series by Dr. Arthur Bradley. (Series Order: Frontier Justice, Anarchy Rising, Judgment Day, Madness Rules, Battle Lines, and Finest Hour).
After the worst pandemic in mankind's history, anarchy threatens to break apart the United States. The government is years away from providing even the most basic necessities. Militias, gangs of convicts, and rogue soldiers face off in a violent free-for-all as they vie for power. Few safe havens remain. Big cities have been overrun with deformed survivors of the Superpox-99 pandemic. Smaller towns are being overtaken by authoritarians and lawless thugs. And congested interstates have become thoroughfares for desperate travelers and bandits seeking to capture women and supplies.
President Glass must face daunting challenges, completely unaware that some of her closest advisors are using unthinkable methods to have her removed. Their clandestine hunt for her eleven-year-old daughter, Samantha, intensifies, and the only person standing in their way is a ruthless convict who will stop at nothing keep the young girl safe.
Duty drives Deputy Marshal Mason Raines to leave the small town of Boone to discover the fate of his fellow lawmen. With his faithful wolfhound, Bowie, at his side, he crosses paths with desperate refugees, a bloodthirsty hangman, and savage cannibals. Only as he discovers the horrific truth, does he realize that he may be the last of his kind.

Wow!! What a great ride!
Pick's up where book 1 left off. Better then book 1 and book 1 was very good. The Dog is my favorite character. The story illustrates the nobility and loyalty of all K-9 everywhere!! Reminds me of Tufo's Henry!

The saga continues and evolves into great threads
Would you consider the audio edition of Anarchy Rising to be better than the print version?
The audio version is a joy to listen to while driving, exercising, and working on hobbies
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tough call, as I like Marshall Raines and his dad, Tanner Raines. As a veterinarian I also love the part played by Bowie!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Very near the end when Marshall Raines arrives at the marshall central facility and makes a promise
Any additional comments?
I am looking forward to book three, Judgement Day, and book four, Madness Rules and five, Batlle Lines.

OKay, OKay, it's good
I was too quick to judge this book when the president's character was portrayed as a weak intimidated woman. I continued on with the book and found it to be very entertaining, well written with some very charming dialogue.

I am Hooked !
Would you listen to Anarchy Rising again? Why?
Yes it was action packed and the relationships between the characters were well developed. That is important to me when I listen to a story.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the fact that it is not too many thinks on. Just 3 stories going on simultaneously. But they are all related. I hate it when theirs so many characters to keep up with.
Which character – as performed by John David Farrell – was your favorite?
Tanner
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The banter between Tanner and Samantha kept me laughing.
Any additional comments?
I am soooo glad I decided to give this series a chance. I have looked over it several times because I don't really like military based books. But The Survivalist is not what I thought

For the most part - Loved it!
Where does Anarchy Rising rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The 3 main characters are great. President Glass however is a disappointment and for the most part unbelievable. She lacks the intelligence you would expect from a president of the United States. That aside I will continue to look forward to seeing what happens to Tanner, Samantha and Mason.

Old series that is still enjoyable and informative
Although this is 70's sexist, and I originally read it back then, being able to listen while driving helps pass the time and reminds me that the current pandemic isn't nearly as bad as described in these books.

Great book.
I loved book One (read it years ago) and finished book 2 today. I really enjoy them. The Author is great and the book held my attention. I recommended it to my teenage boys who will begin to read it. Fortunately it’s not “R” rated. The only thing I don’t like about the books is there is not enough “closure” after each one. It’s what made me not want to read the start the second book because at the time the third book wasn’t out and I knew I would have to wait and probably forget too much before I started the next book. I know the author wants to get you hooked, but would really like to see more of the current game won at the end of a book and a new adventure begin with the next.
