Publisher's Summary

A darkly comic family fable and companion novel to American Gods.

THE NUMBER ONE NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER AND COMPANION NOVEL TO AMERICAN GODS.

Everything changes for Fat Charlie Nancy, the South London boy so called by his father, the day his dad drops dead while doing karaoke.

Charlie didn't know his estranged father was a god - Anansi the trickster, master of mischief and social disorder. He never knew he had a brother either.

Now brother Spider is on his doorstep, about to make life more interesting...and a lot more dangerous. It's a meeting that will take Fat Charlie from his London home to Florida, the Caribbean, and the very beginning of the world itself. Or the end of the world, depending on which way you're looking.

Critic Reviews

"Neil could never have known that he was writing for a confused Jamaican kid who, without even knowing it, was still staggering from centuries of erasure of his own gods and monsters." (Marlon James)

"A warm, funny, immensely entertaining story about the impossibility of putting up with your relations - especially if they happen to be Gods." (Susanna Clarke)

"It's virtually impossible to read more than ten words by Neil Gaiman and not wish he would tell you the rest of the story." (Observer

Exhilarating!

Lenny and Neil and Anansi ... oh, and maybe tiger ... perfect combination.

Thanks and I must get myself a fedora that smells, only slightly and on damp nights, of cigar smoke.

So much fun.

Such a great Gaiman story, and Lenny was an amazing pick for the narrator. His reading really brought the book to life in a whole new way for me.

Lenny Henry did a great job narrating. the story was easy to get into but I had a few wtf moments towards the end when it went a little too offcourse for me.

Neat little story

Doesn't quite have the same memorable moments as American God's but a good story none the less..

really enjoyed it

In the style and humour of Douglas Adams the story had me laughing through out.

Best read book I've listened to.

A thoroughly good story, brought to glorious life by the superb reading of Lenny Henry. This is without doubt, my favourite audio book due to Lenny Henry's expressive, engaging and natural style of delivery.

Fabulous!

Lenny Henry was the perfect narrator for this story with Neil Gaiman at his most playful. Not really a sequel to American Gods so it’s not required pre-reading.
Loved it!

Lenny Henry is brilliant

As always, Neil Gaiman’s books are so entertaining and with Lenny Henry’s interpretations of the different character voices is a real treat and does make you laugh out loud at times.
