About this listen

Joe doesn't care about politics, or what happened. The grid is down, and every day is a struggle to survive. He just knows his world went to Hell when the EMPs ended life as he knew it. Joe scrambled to hide from all of the craziness, but kept his sanity, and improved his lot in life by reading some witty survival notes that his dead grandma had left him. She'd been a prepper all her life, and she had been close to Joe.

Joe grows and learns, but can he survive?

Listen to American Apocalypse Box Set, which includes books one through four of this survival series, to find out how a regular guy survives in a post-apocalyptic world.

Loved the characters and the journey I went on with them. Highs and lows, this series kept me intrigued all the way through.

One of the best ever!

Joe's saga

5 stars. Love that there is a post apoc storyline with a slightly over weight normal guy as the main character who doesn’t have any military experience, albeit he does have the most luckiest start to teotwawki out of every book I’ve ever read.
The reference to Miley Cyrus being a grandmother was hilarious.
Minor things I noticed/ would change is 1)names being very similar and hard to distinguish in the series eg Jane and Joan, Cole, Coby, Chloe, Charlie.
2)The new mothers not breastfeeding. With limited to no baby formula, breastfeeding would be the easiest way to feed their babies.
3)The Mountain Men saying they’ve been all over the mountain and have been monitoring groups and people but somehow “missed” the old brother and sister that had lived on the mountain for years and had slaves (and all the other trapped slaves in other cabins)
4)The intent behind why the mountain men started and who they really were didn’t really continue on a storyline.

Grandma voiceover was a lovely touch to the performance and really helped make her letters come to life. She sounded like a blast.

As excited as I am to read/listen to Cole’s story, I’m still gutted cause I still had hope of team Chloe and Cole to reunite.

Good series, believable characters, realistic events, story a bit stilted and fractured at times, but enjoyed it all the same.

Good series.

This series had some really great moments and the performance was fantastic, but it was VERY off-putting when it came to the focus on relationships and sexuality. It was very weird to the point of being uncomfortable when it came down to one of the main characters (a 12/13 year old girl, and being very focused on whether or not she was going to become physical with an older boyfriend). It's the kind of thing that could have been brought up maybe once or twice, but it was brought up over and over again and really took away from the story. It got to the point where I just couldn't finish the story because it became creepy.
I feel like someone should've pointed this out to the author before launching the books. it's actually completely turned me off any other work this author has done.
It would have been a much better series without so much focus on kids and who they're potentially going to bed with.

Very weirdly focused on sexualality

I don't like being mean because the author clearly put a lot of effort into the books but the story sounds like it was written by a man child living out an outrageous fantasy while playing with their dolls, writing the doll conversations. The characters are very shallow and the worst parts are the unbelievable romantic side stories and attempting to write in the thoughts of women. Save your time. I'm using this as a template on how not to write characters and storylines.

Awfully written

It says I have to give this review 15 words. Here they are.. don’t waste your time this series of books is terrible, badly written and ill conceived.
