About this listen

Where power is measured in cards, Arthur stands among the elite as a Legendary card wielder now forever linked to a frighteningly powerful dragon.

Or Brixaby will be once he grows from the size of a parrot.

Before that can happen, a chance encounter whisks Arthur and Brixaby away to a place they never thought possible: A new dragon hive outside the kingdom. This Free Hive doesn't suffer from the scourge that's infected the rest of the planet. It's a place where crafting using card powers is king.

But even here, an old enemy sings threats from the shadows. The Free Hive cannot defend itself; it needs the strength of Legendary card wielders.

To protect the Free Hive, Arthur and Brixaby must become stronger. That means more skills and, most importantly, more cards to add to their decks.

Critic Reviews

“Honour Rae’s All the Skills has everything I love: great writing, an intriguing mystery, and badass dragons. Well, some of them are badass. Some are dweebs, and that makes it even more awesome. And the audio is some of Luke Daniels’s finest work.” —Matt Dinniman, bestselling author of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Awesome story. I listen to this one in about 3 days. Plenty of character growth and can’t wait to see what the MC finds in the next book.

Another excellent addition to the series. The first book focused mainly on Arthur learning how to use his cards to improve skills. The second book introduced the idea of dragons and this book 100% commits to Arthur becoming a dragon rider. It's a slight swing that wasn't telegraphed terribly well until the final pages of the first book, but as long as you're cool with slightly less focus on cards and more on dragons, you'll still enjoy it.

This is definitely a series I'll continue reading

A gentle but gripping tale of adventure and imagination. Looking forward to book 4 and more?

Enthralling tale

The previous entries to the series were pretty good, so it’s disappointing to find that this one could not be described by any other word than ‘mid’. The writing was pretty average. The setting was boring. The characters and relationships were predictable and mundane. There were no surprises. It was just meh.

I always respect audiobook narrators, but I have to say. The voices chosen for the characters are cringeworthy.

I just couldn’t stick with it for more than half an hour at a time and I never had any desire to pick it back up. Had to force myself to get through.

It does seem like this is an enduring problem with this genre of books. Reminds me of the Arcane Ascension series. Great world, a lot of good ideas. But very average storytelling skills. For writers like this, they’re far more invested in the world building itself than the characters and the plot.

Reminder to writers: the goal of fiction is to entertain first and foremost.

Mid in every sense of the word

An unlikeable main character, complete failure to deliver on previous instalments plot lines, character development and world building. Add an inept, boring main villian that is only a threat through ridiculous contrived loop holes and luck. this is a weak instalment. Drop this series.

weak addition

I wasn't a fan of this book and would suggest skipping it. It was frustrating to see so many retcons that just made the story confusing. Also, the main character wasn’t the brightest. He had this ability from the first book to record events on a card, which could have cleared up all the misunderstandings about him. Instead, he did nothing while people bad-mouthed him, just to keep the plot going. It felt pretty pointless.

book 3 dropped the ball
