Publisher's Summary

With just one step, 16-year-old Alex Jennings' world changes - literally.

Dreading her first day at a new school, Alex is stunned when she walks through a doorway and finds herself stranded in Medora, a fantasy world full of impossibilities.

Desperate to return home, she learns that only Professor Marselle can help her...but he's missing. While waiting for him to reappear, Alex attends Akarnae Academy, Medora's boarding school for teenagers with extraordinary gifts. She soon starts to enjoy her bizarre new world and the friends who embrace her as one of their own, but strange things are happening at Akarnae, and Alex can't ignore her fear that something unexpected...something sinister...is looming.

An unwilling pawn in a deadly game, Alex's shoulders bear the crushing weight of an entire race's survival. Only she can save the Medorans, but what if doing so prevents her from ever returning home?

Will Alex risk her entire world - and maybe even her life - to save Medora?

Fun listen, motivated to hear sequel.

Cute high-school fantasy Story, enjoyable protagonist, writing elevated by an engaging narrator easily distinguishing characters.

Fun!

Narnia meets Harry Potter? That is the feeling I get from this. Well written, exciting YA fiction. Even for older people. I'm 30 and still enjoyed it.

Magical!

Absolutely loved every second of the story, but found it a little hard to picture and get attached to the male characters with the female narrator making them all sounds like 8 year old boys. Other than that, it was a fantastic story, and a great performance.

Delightfully Wonderous

I didn't think anyone would be able to capture the essence of Akarnae the way Carly Robins has done. She's taken the world and the characteds from Lynette Noni's mind and has breathed a new life into them!

The story is wonderful, the characters are delightful, and this is an excellent start to an incredible series. Well worth a listen!

Best Read in a While

I’ve read the Medoran Chronicles and I’ve listened to this audiobook. It’s brilliant. The world building is great, the character development is fantastic and the series only gets better as it goes on. Reading/ listening to The Medoran Chronicles is a wild ride I’d be glad to go on many times!

Could not make it past the first few chapters

I understand the baseline plot of the book, however...the MC is just too accepting and stupid for me to continue. The technology and magic baseline is poorly done. I started to skip chapters hoping that things would get better, but they didn't.

Love

Definitely one of my favourite books. I'm here for those friendships. I found the narrator a bit slow but that was easily fixed with the speed option. Also a little disappointed that it was narrated by an American and not an Australian.
