Returning from his time in the cities’s militia, Ajax comes to find out his village was destroyed and his mentor was injured due to the whims of a spoiled noble. He knows there is nothing that can be done, as he is now, but luckily for him a dungeon nearby offers the perfect opportunity to train before heading to the Capital.
But once he gets there what will he find? A way to heal his mentor? Support to grow even stronger? Nobles who want to use him for their own ends? Maybe all of the above.

Book 2 and still interested
Book sets up book 3 very nicely, which I suspect will be an magic academy style book but with a different angle so this author is following a well beaten track but is taking his own scenic day trips. I'm enjoying his writing and story telling. The audible is excellent and I highly rate the narrators. Very clear and attractive voices. The female narrator is very slow and you would think it would be annoying, but you end up following her narrative very closely.

great continue to the first book
great 2nd book can't wait for the 3rd book to be released on audible
this book has good adventure aspects mixed with great character growth and world building has been amazing

intriguing story line and fascinating world bilding
ajax's ascension is an interesting story of magic and might with a good amount of world building to keep the story moving forward at a reasonably pace to not stagnant or bog down or law heavy moments

A good book 2
If you read the first one and liked it, hey look book 2. It's worth a listen and some of the status issues I had with the last one are better. That said, I still skip them because of their frequency and length, also there hasn't been a situation I need to know his stats other than level and combat level.
