Story
Every year, the empire administers the rite of passage into adulthood. That rite serves to identify those blessed by Aether to become magi. The new magi are shipped to the academy to learn the arts of magic. The academy is a dangerous place; the tournaments held twice each year can cripple or kill the students, and the clans of the empire will go to great lengths to recruit the students they want. Gregory had one dream: to become a magi like the legends of old. Though he was ridiculed by the residents of the village and his unsupportive father, he never wavered from his dream.

Story
Scraps, a gutter child, is sitting in his hiding place in a back alley, waiting for the cold thunderstorm to pass. Suddenly, lightning strikes in front of him, and then a second time. The two lightning bolts become men — two wizards — one from the Red Order, the other from the Blue. The Red Wizard, chanting his curses, throws lightning bolts and fireballs. Publisher's Summary
Raise your blade. Take up the mantle of Slayer.
Adam's life was anything but easy. With people at both school and home eager to make his life a living hell, the only place he felt like himself was in the virtual world. At least there he had some control.
When the newest VRMMORPG title gets announced, Adam and his best friend, Max, are more than ready to dive in. Launch day arrives quickly, and Adam is plunged into a world that's more immersive than anything he's experienced before. Although the game offers a bevy of character choices, Adam quickly chooses the title of Slayer, a class that specializes in taking down stronger, more difficult opponents.
Adam begins his adventure, but it's not long before he realizes there's much more at stake when taking a life in this new game. The pain is very real, and death...is permanent. Now, trapped in a virtual world, Adam must take the mantle of Zander Darkblade and brave the dangers of the Aether Gate.
It is a world of mighty creatures and fallen gods. A world where powerful familiars bond with their masters, granting them extraordinary powers they wield with uncanny force...and as Adam and the others will soon discover, it is a world of secrets that have lain hidden for far too long....

The Aether Gate trilogy all in one collection!
This is a great saga. Here you have in one spot the complete Aether Gate trilogy. A fine LITRPG with an awesome narrator. I have many of J. Scott Bennett’s narrated storied and count them amongst my favorites. Here you get almost thirty hours of awesome LITRPG. The Mc finds himself trapped in a world with death will now be permanent. You can bond with families that grant special powers his class? Slayer which evolves through three special
Forms granting more power each time. This saga rivals the works of brooks shannara and many others. The MC must make allies, go upon quests, and of course, save the world. Great action, great leveling Mc system, unique bonding with unique rewards. Overall a great adventure and one helluva deal to get all of them for one credit!!! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Trash MC
So, this was bad, very bad. The MC is another man child who falls for a trap and is tricked into doing the bidding of someone else. He also doesn't seem to understand that people trick each other. He also doesn't get that people die unless it's his friends dying. I say save the credit and move on to something else. I couldn't even finish it, because this guy is just too stupid.

Good, Not Bad, Not Great
Pretty simple, for one credit, getting the complete saga; not bad. Bit misleading it being classified as LitRPG. It has some elements the author occasionally remembers to bring up every now and then. Almost used to quantify power growth levels at certain points. Exp is not tracked(rarely mentioned like oh hey you leveled up 3/4x from killing this X entity), no grinding of skills or abilities, etc.
Not a bad series overall, just didn’t catch my full attention but a few times here and there.
Hope this review will help you out!

Getting three for 1...it's okay
So...main issue with the books (there are several) but it's the MC who thinks he is OP, but is not. Like "I'm not going to let you get away with that!" LOL, yes you will. There are maybe 3-4 fights over all 3 books where the MC actually has a chance at winning, all other times, "somehow" he wins, definitely nothing the OP planned out. But for getting 3 for 1, would I have gone to book 1-2, or 2-3? Not sure. But like I said 3 for 1, it's okay.

“Damn it all” it was good!
The story good and very visual. I was sad to see it end. I think there needs to be a continuation to let us see where everything is left later on for the characters and the worlds “online” and how the game effected the real world after and the people left there. The narration was very good I especially loved Razors voice.

“None of us are dying here today”
A really great LitRPG story with immense amounts of action and great characters! Doesn’t go into as much depth with skill selection and point usage as other LitRPG I’ve heard but still thoroughly good. The start has e game feeling a little overpowered and “how could anyone even get past the first quests”, but it soon balances out.
Great narration to with great pacing and good character voices and differentiate!
I know this was the “complete” saga, but I really hope there’s more to come.
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.
