Interesting idea ruined by nonsensical narration

I really wanted to like this book. It's premise seems genuinely fun and interesting. All credit to the author, if I was reading this I think I would have really enjoyed it. However, the narrator does a huge disservice to the story and its characters. He seems to be reading the whole thing ironically and over emphasising words in sections where it is wildly distracting. I would recommend reading the book if you are intrigued by the premise but skip the audiobook version.
