After loving the novella set before this book, perhaps I set my expectations too high. Aching God was so slow to get going that I wasn't really enjoying it until around halfway through the book. But thankfully that back half come through with the goods.

Finished this amazing read in 2 days. Shel sits at the same high table as Abercromie. Do yourself a favour. I'm going straight to the sequel.

Mike Shel's world-building is first rate and is brought to life wonderfully by Simon Vance, who's narration really suits the atmosphere of the books and brings the world to life.

10/10 would reccomend again.

Reminds me of diabolo the video game in some aspects the style is fantasy with heavy influence from DND
