Disappointed

The first book wasn't bad and I was curious to see how the story progressed. It didn't. Leaving out the protagonists being chased by baddies, fighting baddies, singlehandedly taking an airship from baddies (you get the drift), perhaps 5% of the book took the main premise of the first novel any further. There was no character development and we learnt very little, if anything, about the 'why', which was what was intriguing about the story in the first place. The narrative felt stretched out, leaving me feeling somewhat cheated, as if author padded the book in order to capitalise on the opportunity to sell a third or fouth novel in the series. I feel that my time was wasted, and having paid for this book, so was my money. Audible, you can't give me my time back, but hopefully you can return my credit.

Another Great Chapter

My only regret in purchasing Book 2 is knowing there will never be a Book 3 due to author Paul Antony Jones untimely passing in Feb. I have so many questions left unanswered. Why were the candidates brought to future earth, who or what is The Adversary, what does it/him/her/they want? This series is so compelling. I know my thoughts should be only for the family and friends who lost the wonderfully talented author of this and other books but at the same time I cannot help but think about the 3rd book and future books nobody will ever get to enjoy because of a sinister disease and medical incompetence.

Such an original and engaging tale

So happy I got to experience both books, especially book 2, which provided some of the most imaginative and exciting ideas about space time, multiple dimensions, community, and creation of places, spaces and characters I’ve rarely enjoyed so much. It’s tragic that Paul just last month passed away from cancer, after he learned of the diagnosis mere months ago. He wrote in a Facebook post, back in November or December, that a writer friend had worked with him on the plot and plans for book 3, just in case... I hope that can happen. This author deserves to be WIDELY read, this series, especially. Kate Reading did a fine job of narration, engaging me with every character. I want to see these books jump the boundaries of the inexpensive Kindle book world, and find the audience that will make it a cult favorite. I want to see that popularity create the recognition income for his family that the work deserves. Highly recommended. Bizarre and fun and almost impossible to stop reading/listening.

Very promising series

Took a chance on this series and was not disappointed. It is super original, yet somehow familiar. Kind of a Dan Simmons/Brandon Sanderson/David Brin type of vibe to the story so far. I love the whole "gears" premise of the setting (trying not to give any spoilers). Can't wait until the third installation. My only wish is that the books are longer, this is definitely a 14 hour story packed into 8.

Jones is back!

I was sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for this book! I listened nonstop, beginning to end, and I’m mad at myself for doing it!!! Cus now there’s no more until book 3. Let me just say... WOW. So creative. I’d love to see this as a show on the CW Network or something similar. I love love love the cast of this series and cannot wait to see how it ends.

Awesome story

Sad to hear about the author, brilliant mind he had, but I’m glad he managed to finish this story via a good friend of his to finishing the novel. I’ve been waiting patiently for the audible book to get recorded and released, I’m tempted to buying the hard copy but I love Audible. Please hurry and bring me the end of this book.

Very good book series.

I'm so sorry there won't be another book in this series. I enjoyed the first and second book immensely - this author really knew how to weave science fiction ideas into a very human/life-centered action and plot, using the science as part of the book but leaving the ultimate focus more on the living element and it's meaning. It was extremely compelling, both in content and in performance. Farewell, Paul Antony Jones - you will be missed.

What a wonderful book and series.

I can not remember when I have enjoyed a new series as much as this one! It is imaginative and very well written. I was quite dismayed that the author passed away before he could start on the third.. RIP and thanks for a wonderful, if abbreviated series. BTW, Kate Reading does a FANTASTIC job (as always!) with this series. Thanks Kate!

Cool little series

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. There are times when the storytelling does drag on, especially with descriptions, but I can see past that. The premise is interesting. I like how he pulled in Emily amd Thor from Extinction Point. The narration is great, she does good. Looking forward to the final book. I hate that Paul Antony Jones has passed away and why he passed away. It is unfortunate he will no longer be able to write more interesting stories. I hope his family is well.

Memory of Book 1 keeps it going

First book was better, im not really sure why I did not get really immersed in to this second book, but even the reveal parts just didn't make it very exciting, narration was great though and hopefully third book will be better!

wow

great book ... what I would love to know is if the theory used in this is fact or fiction as far as the universe? Did this come from physicist or what very interesting ... also I wonder if everyone besides Meredith is so advanced or smart or adventure like why is it that they take her word as fact why is it that they decide to follow her it doesn't seem to make sense so many different things in this book and so many different questions I loved it great book very mind-blowing very interesting very very very very everything I have so many questions can't wait for book 3

Terrific series

I really like this author. Love Extinction Point, and this series. A great story teller! Kate does a good job of reading the story. What?! Emily and Thor!! Wonderful! Just need We are Kings (extinction cycle) on audible now 😉
