Fun

Loved the characters, they’re so likable. And the narrator, well, I could listen to him read the dictionary and be totally entertained. Adding the series to my collection.

Not as good as Cherringham

I started the new series with a sense of : "Cherringham is great.. so let's try this!" But even the first one was disappointing.
Just doesn't click with me, had trouble finishing it... I'll just wait for the next "Cherringham.."

Love these characters, great mystery, ending a little flat

This is a really fun series, the narrator does a great job with the American accent. Love the main characters relationship and how cool is Kat? This one was full of interesting twists and turns and good sleuthing. Was a bit surprised when it ended A it didn’t seem very definitive. Will definitely be reading the next one! I hope they make many more.

Excellent story, A+ performance

I stumbled upon this series and absolutely love it! Listen to Mydworth Mysteries—A Shot in the Dark first. A Little Night Murder is #2. Carefully thought out plot and details, lighthearted and extremely capable main characters. Thank goodness Cat (Kat?) isn’t a high-stepping, flighty lady who makes blunders right and left. I adore her and her partner in crime Sir Harry and wish them many adventures ahead.

Way too progressive of outlook for the time

Okay so this is the second Of the series I've listened to Generation is much better Cat doesn't come off Quite as nasally and longshoremennee as she did before, that's a plus. But the characters View of the world is way, way too progressive for the time Sure there were the upper crust who had more risqué or liberal views on things back then but I can't see that they'd agree with every little thing that someone In the 21st century might go along with a champion, like in the pubs. Women driving let alone sitting on a motorcycles without it being a scandal. Kat seems to know how to do everything except for at 1 point she says Sail a boat. Love Matthew and Neil's Cherringham, however however this was series just not ringing true to me. The characters act to modern Kat Is never called Katherine She's still more butch than her husband, I can't see that they would really be accepted In the upper crust as much as they are in with their flagrant disregard for their place in the class system be a good or bad In the way some of the villagers talk to them with such distain, can't see happening too much back in the day with the gentry.
Now it pains me to complain about the story. However as a woman who shoots shotguns, long guns, pistols, even though I don't hunt, I do know that with a long rifle you cannot have your finger on the trigger and shoot yourself in the chest which is what they allude to, You could probably do it if you placed your thumb on the traeger and deliberately pulled it. They did a good job of describing people being safe with guns. However they should have just said that he must have tripped and the gun hit the groud and went off even with the safety on. The other problem I had was him shooting the deer in the head in the dark, full moon or not. Again I don't hunt but I do know people do not shoot big game in the head, too hard a shot, to hard of a head they usually shoot them in the heart area. Love Cherringham, I have hopes for this one.

Enthusiastically waiting for many more adventures!

fantastically fun and a great distraction during the opening weeks of state shutdown. Can't wait for the series to continue! These two are a great pair, a twist on Nick & Nora Charles 😀.

Certainly not Cherringham!

It’s hard to believe this comes from the same writing team as Cherringham, the plot seems clunky and somehow shoehorned in around random scenes that just aren’t very interesting.
The two lead characters are rather dull and two dimensional, instead of having personalities they have abilities. She can shockingly ride a motorbike and once worked in a bar but has had no real thought or effort put into her as a person. He is constantly surprised by her to such an extent you wonder how he could possibly have married her, but then he’s also so dull you’ll hardly care.

The crime itself was hard to believe and the ending felt like an after thought. The murderer and motive made very little impression on any of the story and had me rolling my eyes.

All in all it has very little substance and no real style.

I DO Like Cat and Sir Harry!

Spoiler? Was waiting for a twist, but there wasn't one. Shame. A good story, but finished early.
Wonderful characters, and Nathaniel Parker does the voices and accents brilliantly. Yp3u forget it's an Englishman being an American woman.

New adventure 5 star 🌟

Well that was a cracking story. Better than the first book. Set in the 1920's/1930's sir Harry is married to a young lady from America called Cat and he has brought her back to England to live, but on reterning home they seemed to have fallen into a life of solving crime. Well what else are you going to do when your family and friends need help and you have all the time in the world because your rich. The characters are so likeable and you feel like your on the adventure along with Cat and Harry.
I knew it would be a gem coming from Matt C and Neil R can't wait for the next one.

Quite entertaining......

I am enjoying this series but with reservations. It is light, fluffy, undemanding and there are distinct echoes of Cherringham. I just wish that Harry could 'man up' a bit and not be such a wimp. There are occasional glimpses of the man he is supposed to have been in the past but really, I cannot understand what the feisty and capable Kat sees in him! Let's hope that he is allowed to develop a slightly more macho side to his character as the stories progress.....

Terrible

First watch out it is only about 3 hours long. That was my first catch. I like a cosy crime novel, but this is terrible. Even though short it is disjointed and difficult to follow. For me anyway. Has two writers. sounds like it had 5 and they never met each other. My advice? Avoid..
