พันหนึ่งทิวา หรือ พันหนึ่งราตรี เป็นนิทานโบราณที่เล่าขานกันในหลายประเทศมาตั้งแต่ราวคริสศตวรรษที่สี่ กล่าวกันว่ามีผู้แต่งหลายคน ส่วนหนึ่งน่าจะเป็นตำนานหรือนิทานของแต่ละท้องถิ่น ที่เหล่านางห้ามหรือนางทาสซึ่งถูกเก็บตัวไว้ในฮาเร็มเล่าสู่กันฟังเพื่อบรรเทาความเหงา ความเบื่อหน่าย และเพื่อเป็นการระลึกถึงบ้านเกิดที่ตนเองคงไม่มีโอกาสได้กลับไปอีกชั่วชีวิต
