The common thread has been her focus on equity, literacy, and closing the achievement gap. She works to empower teachers and parents so that they can build their will, skill, knowledge and capacity around issues of diversity and equity in the classroom. She is passionate about ensuring every child and young person learns to read well so that they fall in love with reading. Zaretta considers herself an amateur neuroscientist and believes every teacher should be.
