Zach Berman is a Senior Writer at The Athletic covering the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL. He has covered the Eagles since 2012 for The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Athletic, and PHLY Sports. He co-hosted the popular podcast "Birds with Friends" and the "PHLY Eagles Podcast." He is now a weekly contributor for "Philly Special" on The Ringer. Berman also covered the New York Giants for Star-Ledger and the University of Virginia/Virginia Tech for The Washington Post, and was a contributor for The New York Times. Berman wrote three books: UNDERDOGS: The Philadelphia Eagles' Emotional Road to Super Bowl Victory (2018); The Franchise: Philadelphia Eagles, a Curated History of the Birds (2024); and Leap Year: The Philadelphia Eagles' Ascent to Super Bowl Champions (2025). Berman was named Pennsylvania Co-Sportswriter of the Year in 2018 by the National Sports Media Association. He's also been honored by the Professional Football Writers of America. He is also an adjunct instructor at Colorado State University, where he teaches media and content creation in the Sport Management graduate program.
