Walter's latest book, released in June, 2025, is PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF DEAN ALBRITTON. The book includes 43 memories written by family members and friends who loved Dean. Walter tells the story of his wife's inspiring life as a servant of Jesus.
Walter is a good storyteller. His stories will make you laugh and cry. He knows the pain of failure and the joy of being rescued by caring friends. In his stories you will find inspiration, laughter, hope and encouragement. You can easily relate to Walter's stories because most of them come out of his struggles with the common issues of life. One of his most popular books is titled WHEN YOU LOSE SOMEONE YOU LOVE. There he tells the story of his son David's death at age 3, a victim of leukemia. Anyone who has lost a child will find help and hope in this book. In June, 2024, Walter released JESUS IS EVERYTHING! which quickly became an Amazon Best Seller.
Walter had been married to Dean for 68 and a half years when she died December 16, 2020. Six months later, Walter published his book about her suffering and death titled STRUGGLING WITH GRIEF, FINDING PEACE -- ONE MAN'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE VALLEY OF SORROW. As a tribute to his wife, Walter released in 2023 his book, BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. In it he encourages people struggling with sorrow to trust Jesus and become courageous servants of Jesus.
In 2020 Walter released CHANGING YOUR WORLD: GROWING A PLAN ONE STORY AT A TIME. He encourages followers of Christ to overcome racism and hatred with kindness and love. In LIFE'S GREATEST ADVENTURE - SERVING JESUS CHRIST, Walter shares creative ways to live as an authentic servant of Jesus. Finding that many people die soon after they retire, Walter urged his elder friends to believe GOD IS NOT DONE WITH YOU, published in 2016 when Walter was 84.
A United Methodist minister for 48 years, Walter is a senior elder in the Gobal Methodist Church. In retirement he served 16 years on the staff of Saint James Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. After 16 years St. James named him Pastor Emeritus. He still teaches Sunday School and preaches occasionally at Saint James Church. He is also co-pastor of New Walk of Life Church, a black congregation in an impoverished area of west Montgomery, where he preaches monthly.
Walter and Dean were blessed with five children: David (deceased), Matthew, Mark (deceased), Timothy, and Steve. Their sons and their wives blessed them with 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Walter produces a weekly video for his home church, Wetumpka First Methodist, where his son Matt serves as pastor. Twice monthly he leads a Bible study for men in "The Glory Room" of his home
Walter is a graduate of Auburn University and Emory University's Candler School of Theology. He spent the first year and a half of his theological studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Walter's wife Dean is the author of two books: The Yellow Butterfly (2010, available from Amazon) and Misplaced Heart (1990, available from Walter).
