Henry Sledge is the son of renowned author Eugene B. Sledge, “With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa” and “China Marine.” Growing up, he witnessed his father’s memoir take form and come to life. Through conversations with his father about his experiences across the islands of the Pacific, Henry formed an abiding passion for all aspects of World War 2 history. Henry is the author of “The Old Breed… the Complete Story Revealed,” a companion piece to his father’s book, and has had articles published in World War 2 Magazine, Valor and Naval History Magazine. He has co-hosted and appeared as a guest on numerous WWII podcasts including, most recently, The Jocko Podcast with Jocko Willink. He has been featured in several documentaries including Fox Nation with Joey Jones, WWII TV with Paul Woodadge, Reel History with Jared Frederick, and others on History Channel and American Heroes Channel. Speaking engagements include the Library of Congress, the Society for Military History, the Citadel, the We Have Ways Festival in England, and the International WWII Conference in New Orleans (2022 and 2025). He holds a BA from Auburn University (1988) and has over 20 years of experience in the heavy equipment industry.
