Award-winning author W.H. Hawthorne was born and raised in the Alaskan interior. He left his beloved Great Land to pursue a four-decade career in applied research and development, designing autonomous robotics and intelligent systems on projects for DARPA, NASA, DOD, DOE, and others. Often working as an independent contractor, he could usually be found down in the basement lab or in a back corner of the high bay, fingers on a keyboard and half-hidden by scopes, analyzers, and whiteboards.

His debut novel, The Very Last War, draws on those experiences to produce a frighteningly plausible World War III filled with emerging technology, autonomous weapons, political upheaval, and a distinctly unconventional view of American self-government. He insists that he and his boys could build the Hellhound.
