Growing up as the youngest of five, I found myself raising my hand at the dinner table, hoping to join the conversation, only to forget what I wanted to say when it was finally my turn. As a young adult, I tended to observe before speaking, often thinking of the perfect response just a moment too late. Socializing could be draining, and I learned early on that I recharge best in solitude. Despite that, I found joy in people-centered roles, especially working as a summer camp counselor and crafts teacher. Off-season work often meant kitchen duty for retreat groups, a role that never really aligned with my passion or skills. One spring, a school director asked if I had ever considered teaching. That fall, I began my education journey and have taught ever since. As a lifelong learner, I eventually explored publishing books. My first book, 101 Awesome Animal Facts, was written for curious readers of all ages. My second book, How to Talk to Anyone Anywhere, has shaped me by the very lessons I needed to learn myself. Like many counselors who pursue their field to gain a deeper understanding of their own experiences, I produced this book not because I had mastered communication—instead, I learned and relearned communication principles that have helped me on my way to helping others. It’s been a journey of learning, practicing, and sharing what I’ve discovered about meaningful connection. I hope this book encourages others the way the process of producing it has encouraged me. Here’s what author and inspirational speaker Richelle Cross Force had to say: I found this book to be an insightful and comprehensive guide to effective communication. The author gives precise instructional examples of how to make connections with others and ways to overcome the fear of making oneself vulnerable. She covers every possible scenario that might be encountered in social situations, providing examples and practice models. The book is concisely and clearly written by someone who has obviously acquired expertise in the realm of personal interactions. Recommended for all who wish to enlarge the borders of their social circles and truly make a difference in their relationships with others. -- Richelle Cross Force, author and inspirational speaker
