Troy Abelman grew up in the red rock country of southern Utah, where history isn't confined to museums. It's etched into sandstone cliffs, hidden among ancient ruins, and scattered through forgotten mining camps. His lifelong fascination with the past comes not from memorizing dates, but from uncovering the remarkable, strange, and often hilarious stories that real people leave behind.

His books are written for readers who enjoy learning without feeling like they're trapped in a classroom. He combines careful research with a conversational style, believing history should be approachable, entertaining, and occasionally irreverent. While he strives to present the facts accurately, he isn't afraid to point out when historical figures made spectacularly bad decisions or stumbled into greatness despite themselves.

He lives in Utah's high desert with his cat, always searching for the next forgotten story worth telling.
