Toom Chanda grew up in the quiet villages of Laos, where poverty shaped daily life, and even simple necessities, such as education, clean water, and stability, were not guaranteed. With roots that are 25% Thai, 25% Lao, and 50% Hmong, he learned early what it feels like to stand between cultures, never fully belonging to one place yet carrying the strength of all of them. In 1998, Toom and his parents left everything familiar behind and came to the United States in search of possibilities and a future built on hope rather than survival.

Their journey inspired him to dream boldly. Today, Toom hopes to become a movie actor and film producer, determined to one day share his family’s story on screen. His writing is a tribute to his mother and to the millions who have faced loss, displacement, and the weight of starting over in a new world. Through every page, he aims to show that even in the hardest journeys, perseverance can lead to healing, purpose, and the kind of hope that reaches far beyond borders, maybe even into a film that touches hearts around the world.
