I am a native Californian who lives close to San Francisco. Reading and writing has been a passion of mine since I was born. As a young girl, I remember begging my Uncle Marty to teach me to read which he promptly did. I became an avid reader who would read anywhere. We were always on the move and on the weekends, we would go hunting, fishing and waterskiing. If we were going for the weekend, I would pack a dozen books to take with me. I would be reading on the dock, in the boat or in a beautiful peaceful glade with a wonderful little creek. I grew up in a rural area where my Mom and Dad purchased the family property. We had no electricity at that time which is something that changes your perspective on life. Mom would catch me reading with a lantern or a flashlight under the covers long after I should have been asleep. I have a wicked sense of humor and anything I write will always be tinged with humor. I have written poetry, song lyrics and too many stories to count. In 2004, Mom and I were walking at Tilden Park when we encountered a bridge that meandered through a section of the park. I was complaining that the bridge wouldn’t end and I jokingly said, this is the bridge that never ends. That sparked an inspiration, and I told Mom and my teenage nephew, James my idea about “a bridge through time and space.” We all made a trip back to the bridge and started planning the first book of what we hoped would be many. The protagonist would be James a 14-year-old who stumbled upon our bridge and discovered a magical world. I always told James and Mom; I wanted these stories to be a positive place where things will go wrong for our characters but in the end, the adversity would strengthen their resolve to do right by each world. When they leave a world, it would always be better than they arrived. In The Bridge that Never Ends, we knew the world would be a barren desert landscape and we had a great deal of fun coming up with creatures that would inhabit our world and tried to imagine the world we would find. I love to use incidents from my real life and change them to fit my story. As an example, James tells of an encounter with a banana slug which is a true story of mine. I am deathly afraid of snakes and had an idea for a scene involving a 4-headed snake, I explained the scene to my nephew but also told him although I thought it was a great idea, I didn’t think I could write the scene, James urged me to write the scene and felt it would make a great moment in the story. He was correct, it did and in a very apt way, the writing of the scene was cathartic for me as well. I have been an avid hiker since 2017, and where I live, we are blessed to have many places to hike. With the help of my favorite hiking buddy, we summited Mount Diablo twice, we have hiked around San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge and back, Briones became a favorite place to hike, we took a trip to the bridge of inspiration as we hiked Tilden Park and hiked many places at the coast from Oregon to San Diego. For my day job, I work for Factory Entertainment, Inc, where we make licensed toys, collectibles and prop replicas for television and movies. I have a full family life with my nephew, James who is as dear to me as any child I could have given birth too. I am very close with my mom, Nita, my dad, Jim and my brother Jimmy. As an adult, I have delighted in getting to know my aunts and cousins. I have been working on a project to collect cherished family stories with recordings so we don’t lose those going forward. I have been researching my family history and have been amazed by what I have found. Hopefully, my dear readers will find my stories full of humor, imagination, and lots of heart.
