Tim Rhey didn’t enter the mortgage industry to sell loans — he entered it to protect people.

Nearly two decades ago, Tim began his career after seeing firsthand how confusing, rushed, and costly mortgage decisions could be for families who simply trusted the wrong advice. What started as a job quickly became a mission: help people slow down, understand what they’re signing, and make decisions they won’t regret ten years later.

That mission led Tim to build True Rate Mortgage Group, a top-performing mortgage company known for doing things differently — education first, pressure never. Over the years, Tim has worked directly with thousands of buyers and homeowners, guiding them through first purchases, refinances, market crashes, rate swings, and life changes that don’t fit neatly into a loan application.

Along the way, he realized something important: most mortgage mistakes aren’t made because people are careless — they’re made because no one ever explains the rules. That realization became the foundation for his books, Mortgage First 101 and Mortgage Club, where Tim pulls back the curtain on how the mortgage world really works and gives readers the tools he wishes every client had before signing.

Outside of work, Tim is an entrepreneur, active loan officer, husband, and father of two. Everything he teaches — in business and in writing — comes back to one belief: when families understand their options, they make better decisions, sleep better at night, and build stronger futures.
