Terrance McDuffie is a retired U.S. Army veteran, author, and survivor of a sudden Widowmaker heart attack. Terrance writes from lived experience, sharing the lessons of survival through what he calls The Second Chance Legacy Experience — a message about awareness, prevention, and purpose after life changes without warning. no chest pain, no symptoms, and no time to prepare, his heart stopped completely. After more than an hour of resuscitation, multiple defibrillations, and relentless lifesaving care, he survived an event most people never do. His survival forced him to confront what he calls the illusion of exemption—the quiet belief that disciplined, capable people are somehow protected from life-altering interruption. That realization became the foundation of his writing and his mission to raise awareness about heart health, risk factors, and the dangerous comfort of saying “I’m good.” Terrance is the author of Died Without Warning: A Soldier’s Battle With a Widowmaker and You Alright? I’m Good. Until You’re Not: The Illusion of Exemption. He lives in South Jersey with his wife Carla and continues to share his story to encourage others to know their numbers, question assumptions, and take their health seriously—before “I’m good” suddenly becomes until you’re not.
