The works of the Coen brothers, Quinten Tarantino, George R.R. Martin, Steven Erikson, and Michael Connelly have heavily inspired Taylor's work. Taylor discovered his love for reading long after his love for movies and video games, but when his mother forced him away from the screen and into the many worlds of paper and ink, he realized he loved books just as much as any trilogy made by George Lucas or Peter Jackson. It was the Dragon Lance series that first drew Taylor into the realm of true Epic Fantasy, The Legend of Huma, by Richard A. Knaak. He also loved Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen, and of course, Harry Potter, by the J.K. While Harry Potter may have convinced Taylor that he wanted to read, it was not until Taylor began A Song of Ice and Fire, by the R.R. that Taylor realized he wanted to write. While the genre has always been less important to Taylor than the quality of the product, he has always enjoyed anything with dragons, magic, and armor-plated warriors wielding giant swords. Taylor can often be found in his cold dark basement, clicking away at the black keys, staring at the white screen. He lives happily with his wife and two children and is finishing new books all the time.
