Tara Goedjen writes atmospheric thrillers and gothic suspense novels. Her forthcoming adult thriller, PLEASE ENJOY YOUR STAY, is coming out Fall 2026 with Emily Bestler Books/Atria.
Tara is also the author of two young adult speculative mysteries: NO BEAUTIES OR MONSTERS, a YA thriller set near Joshua Tree National Park, and THE BREATHLESS, a murder mystery set in the South.
Growing up, Tara was inspired by Shirley Jackson, Stephen King, Toni Morrison, and RL Stine. Her short fiction has appeared in AGNI, BOMB, New England Review, TEXT, and Fairy Tale Review, among other places. She also holds an MFA and a PhD in Creative Arts.
Before writing books, Tara worked as a tennis coach in Europe, as a college lecturer in the US, and as a fiction editor for a publishing house in Australia. She currently lives in the Pacific Northwest, where she can usually be found hiking through a mysterious wood while dreaming up her next novel.
