TJ Sharitz is an American Author, Speaker, Broadcast Production Specialist, EBI Paraprofessional, Mentor and Warrior for Jesus.
TJ has a Bachelor of Communications/Journalism degree from Virginia Tech, and kicked off his broadcast career with WJCL in Savannah, GA 1984. He spent 9 amazing months with TV-22 NEWS as a reporter, cameraman and editor, before a vacationing producer from NOVA discovered him.
TJ accepted an offer from NOVA to move to Atlanta working as a freelancer. On his first and “last day”, he was informed his position had been canceled due to an accident which had destroyed 2 video cameras. Being a “Control Freak”, he took control and drove to CBS Sports and WAGA TV-5 where a former WJCL engineer was working. Fortunately, he was working that day and remembered TJ.
TJ started working WAGA as a video editor and broadcast cameraman that same day. He loved working for both sports and news, and setting up live shots. He would also later meet his future wife there when she was visiting with a girlfriend. A few years later, TJ accepted a new job as the producer and director at Firearms Training Systems, a military and law enforcement simulation business. It was an in creditable job, full of travel to exotic filming locations and working with some of the world’s best service men and women.
Soon, the entrepreneur calling took control, and TJ started his own video production company, which evolved into a full-service advertising agency. He loved being his own boss and building a business that served his clients’ needs and dreams. From providing filming for television shows to creating marketing campaigns for national franchise brands, it was an awesome and exciting career.
Now, as a warrior for God, TJ’s passions revolve around mentoring high school kids with autism, dyslexia and social and emotional behavioral struggles, speaking and sharing God great news, and being on broadcast camera most every Sunday at one of several Atlanta churches. TJ believes in the power of storytelling whether that’s in the classroom, speaking at Churches and Bible Studies, or joining podcasts and conferences. Connecting with people is what makes his heart soar.
When TJ’s not working, his favorite way to unwind is on a pontoon boat on the lake with his wife and dogs, Dak their Rottweiler and Layla their brindle Boxer, while listening to Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet and 80’s Rock & Roll. He loves the outdoors and yes, working on their backyard oasis and Koi pond. He likes all the good things in life - especially food, Mexican and Sushi.
Family is TJ’s number one priority and his greatest joy. He’s been married to his wife Jaci (pronounced Jackie), of 36-years, a pharmacy supervisor. They have two grown children - Rachel and Daniel, who live close and still enjoy joining them most every Sunday night for family dinners. Speaking of family, like his father and grandfather before him, TJ is also an Eagle Scout, as well as his two younger brothers.
