TJ Harper headed out on his own with a degree in Psychology and Business Management and spent much of his young adult life after college as an actor/musician, performing in Los Angeles nightclubs along with TV, commercial and film work. As Harper was approaching his mid-30’s and continuing to learn about his sexuality, he came to identify as ‘metrosexual’ in a complex, eclectic and multi-versed world of sex, drugs, disco, rock ‘n roll and numerous sexual encounters. At the age of 35, still a relative newbie to the gay scene while both full of energy and naturally curious, he took a friend’s advice and visited a ‘hookup’ website on the Internet. What started as a personal research project led to a sexual journey of fifteen years and counting for TJ Harper. Amazed at the substantial availability and accessibility of sex, Harper decided to satisfy his curiosity by learning how things worked in the fast-growing world of these Internet hookup platforms. As a member of several hookup sites himself, Harper decided early on that he would keep a comprehensive journal containing detailed accounts of every hookup he experienced, thinking the notes might one day prove to be useful. His notes served as a point of reference to this self-taught journalist and he used them to transcribe sections of his Digital Diary.
