Sydney Doulames grew up on the beautiful island of Guam, a place rich with stories that the waves seem to share. Later, she moved to Southern California, where her parents, from different lands with a history of conflict, created a life filled with love and quiet bravery. Her father was a doctor, and her mother eventually became a nurse. They taught her how to heal, not just with medicine, but with kindness, honesty, and the strength to start over. Sydney is a dedicated writer whose work is influenced by her parents’ incredible journey. She can weave together personal histories and universal themes, reflecting on how our pasts shape our connections. Sydney’s writing gives voice to families who have faced conflict, crossed oceans, and embraced love that transcends boundaries. She is particularly drawn to the stories of children carrying the legacies of war and peace, capturing the essence of belonging to two different worlds. Through her heartfelt narratives, Sydney aims to illuminate the shared experiences that unite us all and foster understanding across diverse backgrounds. Currently, Sydney is working on her next book, which continues this exploration of identity, memory, and the deep stories we hold within ourselves.
