Winner of Bookfest 2025 Non-Fiction Award for Let The Whisper Take Flight, Susan has walked the paths of mentor, writer, inventor, entrepreneur, Congressional staffer, and former senior government executive. From 1968 to 1974 she served in embassies in the Congo, Guinea, and later, in Morocco. During her years in Africa, Susan wrote for U.S. and foreign newspapers and magazines, including Fortune and The Miami Herald. During those demanding years, prayer, and meditation deepened her lifelong journey of faith. Susan crossed the paths of war and knows what it is to be detained and unable to get medical care for a sick baby. Her deepened faith, and God's comfort and love, sustained her through the loss of her younger son, Christian, in April 2000. Through her journey of faith, Susan Wagner Carter learned to listen to the still small voice of the indwelling Holy Spirit. She witnesses to being protected in danger and comforted in grief. She came to understand how we are changed in faith, and how prayer is answered for the greater good. She provides an eye-opening account of the gift of serving during the Iran hostage crisis in 1980, Her efforts on behalf of the American hostages held overseas resulted in Public Law No. 1 of the Reagan Administration declaring a National Day of Prayer and a Day to Honor the Returning Hostages in which all major religions participated. LET THE WHISPER TAKE FLIGHT has been accepted by the Library of Congress - Control Number 2025918452
