FINALIST! for historical romance in RoNAs 2018 and EPIC awards 2016, Susan Leona Fisher writes both historical and contemporary fiction with a romantic element and is particularly interested in the late Victorian to early Twentieth Century period and the influential women of those pre-female suffrage years. So you’ll find links to the past in much of her writing. ‘The Year I Found Great Aunt Alice’ uncovers the truth about a young woman’s role in both world wars through the eyes of the great niece who never met her. Similar themes appear in her set of short stories ‘Town Meets Country’. In one an elderly female civil servant leaves a strange legacy to a woman she never knew and in another a young woman goes to great lengths to locate an oil painting of a distant ancestor. Her historical romances, ‘The Baronet’s Daughter’ and ‘Miss Deacon investigates’ are both set in the Boer War and its aftermath. ‘The Adventures of Jane Waterford’ is set in 1894/5 when women first became able to stand for local elections. Of herself, she says ‘I am retired and write for pleasure. My aim is to create believable characters in authentic settings, but above all a good story and an entertaining and enjoyable experience for the reader.’ More recently she has created a 3-generation family saga ‘Tracing Shadows’ and a WW2 romance ‘The Girl Back Home. If you like intrigue you'll enjoy her three Victorian scandal stories, 'Fair Play & Foul', 'Heiress to a Duke' and 'The Regiment's Forgotten Daughter'. Her latest venture is a leap back in time to readers’ possibly favourite era, the Regency, with the Regency Master Series, Regency Secret Series, Regency Lady Series and most a recently the Classic Regency Series, in tribute to the centenary of Georgette Heyer's first publishing regency romance in 1921. The first of these, SURPRISED BY A DUKE is now also an audiobook.
